As projected. Torn, because you’d love to see Nick Robertson pop off for the person, but it’d sting so bad after waiting for it to happen in Toronto. He missed a ton of games in his formative years that set back his development. Late bloomer potential, without a doubt. He’s improved every year - finally beating guys with his stops and starts now, but still struggles to create for himself. I see all the potential for Robertson to be a 25 goal scorer in the NHL. He passed the eye test all season last year. Maximum effort. Missing the playoffs last year, we didn’t have a chance to see what he could provide in terms of depth scoring. The year prior, he wasn’t trusted to play often - my position on moving him was always… will you trust him in the playoffs, or won’t you? If not, you have to move on. Much like I said about Hildeby, I’d wish Robertson had been given a better look. Slot him up in the lineup with a top tier playmaker for a stretch. He can score when he’s playing with guys who can find him. That ship’s sailed now. Will be interesting to see what he does in Pittsburgh and who they play him with.

@FriedgeHNIC Very fair deal for N. Robertson here, He could end up being a very nice addition for the Penguins.

The Robertson contract we have all been waiting for is done! Nick Robertson comes to terms with the @penguins 2 years, $3.25M AAV. This is a very fair deal. We like the potential fit in Pittsburgh. With a good year or two, Robertson could be looking at a big payday down the road.

@FriedgeHNIC Are we sure this isn't $4.5M? This feels a touch steep for a 1 year contract. Team is likely trying to avoid LT harm to the relationship if they went to arbitration.

Making sure we don't get bit by another @FriedgeHNIC typo on Braden Schneider because a 1 year $5.5M contract seems a little steep. The only rationale for the @NYRangers giving this contract is to not go through the ugliness of arbitration and ruin the LT relationship. If they had played hard-ball, this contract likely comes in quite a bit lower.

@NotTheJoeMarino Once the contract bought multiple years of UFA, while also considering contracts recently signed, the AAV was starting with a 4. Discord should be more around term and roster space than AAV.

Peyton Krebs was nearly a half a point per game player last season, only 25 years old, and has shown he can play up and down the lineup If you’ve got an artificial line in the sand over $3.5 million and $4.5 million in this skyrocketing salary cap world that the NHL is in, you gotta chill out

Peyton Krebs and @BuffaloSabres have agreed to a 4 year, $3.5M AAV contract. AAV is spot on to what was projected but the team getting an extra year of term probably favors them slightly. Overall, a fair deal. Buffalo has a logjam at forward and know where they sit in cap space. Is something more coming? 🤔

Or $4.5M AAV, thanks @FriedgeHNIC. This makes a little more sense on that term and relative to where the market was trending. With that info, the player side is getting the more favorable deal.

@BryanBastin @EvolvingHockey @AFPAnalytics Offersheet attempt on Gauthier? Bedard? Even with these recent forward acquisitions, the first line is old, second line is relying on Perds prospects, which has yet to work in franchise history and a bunch of bottom six forwards (too many, indeed)

If I'm Chris MacFarland and I'm still on a kick to sign guys he helped acquire, I'd take a swing again at Nick Blankenburg. @EvolvingHockey model has him projected at $1.45m for a year, which is an easy deal IMO. @AFPAnalytics how does he look with y'all?

Leo Carlsson is taking his talents back to... Long Beach? The @AnaheimDucks have matched the @NHLFlyers offer sheet. $18M is much higher than projected, and seemingly much more than Anaheim expected. Gauthier needs a new deal too! All of a sudden, cap is tight for the Ducks! #NHL

What's the right number for #NHLJets Cole Perfetti? @hustlerama & @Brandon_Rewucki discuss @AFPAnalytics projection, why a 5-year deal around $6-6.5M AAV makes sense and why the Jets' next move might be finding the right winger to play alongside Perfetti and possibly Viggo Björck. @BryanBastin @EvolvingHockey 2x$4M was the projection. We're probably still early enough in the offseason but definitely approaching the we expect everyone still left to come in under projection phase.

After many twists and turns, Claude Giroux does indeed return to @Senators. He's not the same player he once was but is still a very high level play driver, though with less speed and finishing ability. A 1 year, $2M contract with additional performance bonuses is perfectly fine.
