I'm a real person. I'm also on general hiatus until further notice. That is all.

Self-discipline feels hard when your environment is working against you.
If you want to stick to your goals then make it easier on yourself.
Set up your space, routines, and systems so they nudge you in the right direction rather than constantly testing your willpower.
Real self-discipline isn’t just about grit. It’s also about smart design.
Make your environment your friend, not your enemy.
Small tweaks today can massively reduce friction tomorrow.

I don't usually offer commentary on elections but here is something deeper than simple polarised and partisan electioneering messages to think about:
It's all too easy to say, "What's the point - my vote won't make any difference."
As a thought experiment, let's say there is a low 40% turnout of motivated voters. The winner might get 20.5% or less of that voting and still win. That's not a real mandate of course but they won anyway.
If you didn't vote you can't complain about it.
You helped them to victory through apathy.
What if the 60% who didn't vote actually turned out and voted?
If that sixty percent voted for the same party that would represent a landslide victory and whatever happened at least the result would be a genuine mandate.
It could also represent a seismic shift in the political landscape if a new party became prominent or better yet won the whole thing.
Your single vote could make all the difference.
So, don't be apathetic - get out and vote.
Don't just vote the same as your great-great-grandfather or whatever - apply some critical thought and take a future-oriented perspective and vote for who you think will actually be the best candidate.
People fought and died for your right to vote so honour their bravery and exercise that right.
You'll never make any difference until you do.

In my world, confidence isn’t arrogance.
It’s my solid internal belief that I can handle whatever comes my way in life.
This doesn’t mean always I’ll enjoy those events or find them easy to deal with.
I just know I will deal with them and be able to deal with them whenever they happen.
Self-efficacy is a fancy term which means one’s ability to act upon the world and influence outcomes.
For me, it means my overall skillset as a person and my ability to apply those skills.
I build my self-efficacy by leaning in and doing the hard, unpleasant and boring things when they need doing, not waiting around and procrastinating until I feel “ready.”
My confidence comes from evidence and results built up over lifetime of showing up, surviving, and growing.
▶ I set myself lots of challenges.
▶ I always keep promises to myself.
▶ I build proof and identify gaps.
My confidence is hard-earned, not gifted or hacked.
I do like a good metaphor so I see my confidence as a positive anchor which helps to hold me steady when life's seas get rough.
I don’t have all the answers, but I do keep asking lots of questions.
I back myself 100% regardless.

I used to wear “busy” like a badge of honour until I realised it was masking a lack of any real progress.
I finally and painfully discovered that being busy isn’t the same as being effective.
So I had to shift my mindset on productivity.
I prioritised, streamlined, and focused on what actually moved the needle and moved me towards my goals.
The result?
Less noise, more valuable results.
Genuine and valuable productivity isn’t about filling your schedule.
It is about making what you do count.
Stop glorifying busy.
Start aiming for impact and output.

@3bluewhale3 Perfectly stated 🙂
Working in harmony with our own drivers and values is powerful.

@DoogieMan1000 That is how we level up
That is how we free our self
That is how we live more pain free
That is how we have more caring enriched relationships

We humans are learning creatures.
To deny ourselves the gift of learning new things is to deny a fundamental part of our existential makeup. It's that important.
For me, learning is my vehicle for staying relevant, creative, and fulfilled.
My ability to learn and unlearn rapidly, along with my emotional intelligence & communication skills as well as my habit systems, all form the engine which generates my growth.
Curiosity to learn new things is the fuel which powers the whole thing.
I read widely, explore deeply, and ask “why?” as often as I can.
I develop a personal study curriculum, e.g. books, audiobooks, podcasts, courses, mentors, etc…
I stay open to exploring new ideas, even to new ideas that challenge me. I don’t have to adopt them, but I certainly filter them all thoroughly using all my critical thinking skills.
In a fast-changing world, my learning agility and ability is my edge.
Curiosity keeps me growing and learning keeps me sharp.
If I’m not learning, I’m coasting. And coasting only takes me downhill.

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”
For me, this insight, generally attributed to Aristotle, speaks directly to personal growth and lifelong learning.
It reminds me that true self-development doesn’t happen in sudden flashes of inspiration or the occasional course we complete, it’s built through consistent, intentional, and focused effort over time.
I regularly ask myself, "Have I made learning a habit, or am I just dabbling?"
Sustained excellence in personal development comes from embedding growth into my daily routine, making curiosity and continuous improvement a natural and non-negotiable part of who I am.
How about you? What small action or actions can you consistently take to make learning part of your identity?

@BronyW @MasterClass I did the same a few months ago.
It's fantastic, highly educational and hands down my smartest subscription ever.
Currently watching Werner Herzog talking about filmmaking - fascinating.
What are you watching?

@themikegsimon You're so right.
It's the vehicle we travel in through space and time so we really need to understand & trust it, look after it and be at one with it.

@ZubyMusic Self-development is often scary, challenging and takes real effort. This terrifies and freezes people more than suffering the issue. They follow the path of least resistance until the issue outweighs the fear of changing.
