30 years ago the album Deep Dead Blue was released. ANÚNA had just left Riverdance choosing instead to follow our own path. This is "Blackthorn", soloist Lucy Champion - read about the album on our website. youtu.be/r8gnUnWY0_E?is…

@Rainmaker1973 I always wondered why the English called them creepy demonic sub humans and hunted them… I’m not saying that was right, but hear some noise like that coming from the hills or the glen at night and see some white faces…

Ever heard traditional Gaelic Irish music sung by an a cappella group like this? This is Ceann Dubh Dilis (My Sweet, Dark-Haired Love), arranged by Michael McGlynn and performed by Spokanki.

The hardest album to discuss in many ways, and one of the most difficult times I have experienced. This is the 2012-2014 album Illuminations by ANÚNA . What began as an effort to celebrate 25 years of the group ended in a life-altering realisation. anuna.ie/illuminations

Thanks for clarifying, Michael. Spokanki is indeed a Russian a cappella group, performing your arrangement in Irish Gaelic. The flag is from their fictional "SpokanLand" persona—a custom design with a moon face and dove, used in their theatrical shows. It fits their style, not specifically tied to Ireland. Apologies if my earlier take missed that context!

Behind the Closed Eye was an extraordinary album, with a complex background that brought together inspiration, poetry, Francis Ledwidge, Jeff Buckley, death itself against the background of some of the darkest moments of The Troubles. anuna.ie/behind-the-clo…

This is Cynara - probably the least well-known album ANÚNA and I have ever made. Revisiting this for ANÚNA40 in 2027 was hard I must have been in a very dark place when I made Cynara. Heavy stuff. anuna.ie/cynara

Regarding the debate about artists and musicans using AI generative tools. When methods were found to make jewellery quicker and cheaper, goldsmiths stopped training. Now there are very few. There will be no journey for gifted creators. We will diminish. It is inevitable.l
Alex Imas@alexolegimas

New post: "Someday We Will All Be Artists" I co-direct UChicago Booth's Arts and Creative Enterprise program. The question I get most these days: how will AI impact art? Will artists be replaced? My answer: No. Art will change, but art makers will be one of the most "automation proof" jobs out there. In fact, as AI begins to automate more and more tasks, many jobs will take on characteristics that we associate with artists. We may all be artists one day. We've already seen a huge tech disruption in art: photography, which at the time threatened most working artists. But this led to the biggest explosion in creativity yet. Why? Because in art the "product" is the relationship with the artist, the narrative--the "humanness" of it is the key part of its value. As many tasks become automated, demand will likely shift to those tasks that have this property, which are impossible to automate by definition. This piece is based on interviews with working artists and practitioners: @libermontserrat and @_wetbox of the @bianjie_systems collective make an appearance, as does @mendezmendez. Thanks to conversations w/ @sebkrier and @skominers. Of course my fav new band @geese_band and midwestern emo. Here is the piece. Hope you like it. aleximas.substack.com/p/someday-we-w…
