People keep saying Trump is “leveling the playing field” because other countries tariff us more than we tariff them. That’s partly true – some nations do have higher tariffs. But the U.S. also enjoys a massive edge: We export the global reserve currency. They send goods. We send dollars. Which we can print endlessly. The unfair advantage is ours.

We also use: – Subsidies: Billions to farmers, chipmakers, green energy – Anti-dumping duties: Penalties for foreign firms selling below cost – Countervailing duties: Offset foreign government subsidies – Export controls: Ban tech sales to rivals like China – Buy American rules: Favor U.S. goods in government spending – Quotas: Cap imports of things like sugar or steel – Sanctions: Freeze assets, block trade, cut off access to the dollar It is worth analyzing how these are being used as well.
