@kisslyte The way the price of vehicles and interest rates have both increased, $400 car notes are gone. It’s exactly why I’ll be driving mine until the wheels fall off.

It is terrible. That’s why Ida B Wells, who witnessed the rise of Jim Crow said “Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.” Civil rights are never permanently won. Each generation must do their part.

60+ years of progress to end up back where we started; it’s just so terrible.

@skcurry @BodycamVideos_ Exactly. Raising your voice isn’t a crime. I would’ve given her the shit so she can get out of my hair.
English

@BodycamVideos_ As much as I can’t stand Karen’s and cop abusers, he should’ve given her the ticket and her license back.
Yes, she yelled, but he said “lower your voice and I’ll give you your stuff” - escalated the situation.

@DntBurnYoBridge @chi_quiero What was it then that you are saying? That you look better without make up if you’re not pale?

My abortion is the kind people love to judge the most. I wasn’t underage, I wasn’t assaulted, and there was no medical emergency. I got pregnant because I knowingly had unprotected sex, no accident, no rare failure, just my own choices.
By their standards, it was “irresponsible.” I knew abortion was an option, and I took it. Not because I couldn’t survive it or raise a child, I simply didn’t want one. I wanted sex without becoming a parent, and I chose not to carry the pregnancy.
There’s no redemption arc here. I don’t regret it. Nothing terrible happened to me afterward, no punishment, no downfall. My life is still good. And that reality alone challenges everything people like to assume about women who make this choice.

Speaking of gerrymandering, have you heard of prison gerrymandering?
White Republicans use incarcerated people to be counted by the census as residents of the town the PRISON is located in rather than their home communities. This increases their political representation and FUNDING for those districts while incarcerated people themselves cannot vote.
What you allow to happen to incarcerated people will happen to you.
Karim is reading A Farewell to Arms@shift_in2_turbo
Hot take: Incarcerated people should have the right to vote.

@itsnwts A lot of people be on “journeys” and the whole journey never acknowledges their own faults, just those of others. Weird shit.
English

in order to become a better person, you must first realize how horrible you really are. not in the dramatic sense, but in the quiet ways you sabotage yourself, repeat unhealthy patterns, hurt people who care about you, or tolerate what wounds you. you cannot grow if you keep pretending you're innocent in the story you created.
