Unless a big name is coming into the attack, personally I feel like we’re weakening ourselves if someone doesn’t come in for Jackson.
It was under the impression that Nkunku, Felix, Jackson, KDH, George were leaving for an attacker which would be hard to displace.

@Blue_Footy If we manage to move the likes of Disasi, Chilwel, Sterling, Detro fofana etc for £40-50 combine, then I don’t mind getting another CB.

We don't have many glaring holes in our starting XI. Maybe at CB and GK, that's it. And then a few positions that need backups.
But when we invest in top prospects we need to give them opportunities to perform and improve.
We have a few of them who could become top players like Sarr, Quenda, Penders, and Paez. Buying established players on 7-8 year contracts in their positions makes a mockery of paying top fee for these elite prospects.
If Chelsea don't want a GK because of Penders or a CB because of Sarr and so on, then it means we are actually thinking about them, which is a great feeling.
I have said this several times, we already have a settled XI when everyone is fit. We have to be sensible with the future transfers and protect the investments made in the young players who are out on loan or working as fringe players in the squad.
So, I'm glad that Chelsea are not biting. I think we've been bold to walk away from paying overpriced fees this summer.

First, I didn't think Simons was going to be a starter at Chelsea. He's not a LW, he's a half-space operator. That means he can only play Palmer or Enzo's position.
That makes it a bit complicated to spend €60m on him. I like him as a player but in our squad, he won't be a starter in more than 25% of games over the season. Enzo provides balance. We can't play one DM in this shape. We need one who plays as 8 to support the DM out of possession. That's Enzo and Santos.
The dynamics of the window change every time. The league has started, the manager and the SDs have seen the team and could tell what they need. If they think spending €60m on Simons is not worth it or he's not really the profile they need most, then so be it. We are too emotional about these things. I think it's a collective decision and the club will have a very good reason for that, just like in the cases of Duran, Onana or Maignan.
Maybe, they feel that having someone like Fermin who can play as 8 or 10 or as striker is more valuable to the squad or they need to reserve the space for the likes of Paez and Quenda to fight for.
Either way, I trust their judgment. Nobody is beyond mistakes but they have been very pragmatic this summer. I will give them the benefit of the doubt.

Simons transfer rumours don't move me an inch. Fine player but too expensive for a backup. I don't think he will start ahead of Palmer or Enzo. If we have a position where he will start, I will say sign him. The same goes with Rogers. I struggle to find a position for him, too. The reason is because Enzo Fernandez has reached a level where I think he will be difficult to bench him. In my opinion, we don't need to make any more signings in attack or midfield. Save the money.

@FelixJohnston_ Barca need money to register their players and probably buy one more player. We’ve also just find out Fermin is up for sale and decided to move our focus on him. Xavi was the target but RB asking price is probably what is stopping us to go for him now. 🤷🏾♂️

This is honestly so interesting. Xavi Simons is maximum €10m (£8.5m) more. There’s no way that’s a deal breaker, so we must genuinely prefer Fermin Lopez.
But then if we do prefer Fermin, why have we been on Simons all summer and only now accelerated on Fermin?

I think any deal for Jackson that eventually brings in £65m or more, even if some (pretty achievable) add-ons are needed to get there, is a good deal.
Would be another example of the model working, seeing as we bought him for £32m just two years ago.

Outside of a few months period from Mendy, we’ve not had a quality, consistent goalkeeper that we could rely upon to guide us to the big trophies since Courtois who left in 2018.
Kepa was the previous ownership’s mistake, but questions have to be asked internally within the current set up, toward Ben Roberts and others, on just how we’ve spent so much money on keepers who are not needle movers.
How is it that one of the two most important areas is being treated as an experiment.
The board need to splash the cash on a experienced and top keeper, how many more years of inconsistency between the sticks?

@Blue_Footy His awareness of players running into the box after coming back from injury is not good. Against Liverpool he wasn’t aware the run of Curtis jones and today he wasn’t aware of isak, needs to do better!!
