My thoughts are with the victims’ families, survivors, and everyone across Maine and New England who’ll feel the weight of this senseless act of gun violence. We’re holding our loved ones a little closer tonight, and praying for the safety of the people of Lewiston.

In the wake of yet another tragedy, I urge Republican lawmakers in Congress to fulfill their duty to protect the American people. Work with us to pass a bill banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, enact universal background checks, and more.

Ban assault weapons. Ban high-capacity magazines. Require a background check on every gun purchase. Close the Charleston loophole. We have to act before another community experiences another tragedy.

Happy Labor Day! Today, we would like to highlight the hard work of student workers at Tufts University, who are in the midst of union negotiations. We support Tufts RA’s and implore the administration to provide student workers with fair labor representation.
