On #WorldCancerDay, we’re proud to share that 70,000 patients with cancer have been identified via primary care - at the earliest possible moment, when it matters most 💜 Primary care is where cancer is hardest to recognise, symptoms are often vague, common, or easy to attribute to everyday illness. And yet, this is where the greatest opportunity for earlier understanding exists💡

🧵- Early #cancer detection in primary care is often challenged by vague, non-specific symptoms. Following implementation of C the Signs across Somerset ICB, patterns of diagnosis began to shift - with improved referral precision, a 10% cancer conversion rate, and a significant increase in early-stage diagnoses across multiple cancer types.

The earliest chance to spot cancer usually comes in primary care, when symptoms are vague and decisions aren’t straightforward. It’s good to see that reflected in coverage of the National Cancer Plan. We’re proud to be supporting clinicians at that early point, in line with the Plan’s ambitions 💜

@DHSCgovuk It’s good to see the role of primary care acknowledged in the National Cancer Plan. We’re proud to be working toward the same goal - helping clinicians understand risk earlier, so patients can benefit from timely clarity 👏

It’s good to see earlier diagnosis recognised in the National Cancer Plan, including the role of primary care at the start of that journey! When risk is understood sooner, clinicians have more clarity - and patients have more time and options. That’s where real impact can begin 💜

@DHSCgovuk Early detection truly begins in primary care, finding cancer as soon as it presents (even silently). Innovations that can detect cancer at its earliest stage (👀👋) are vital to the future of cancer care, and having them available to all patients is the key!

@UN @WHO Early detection IS the key 🔑 which is why we're so proud to have created technology that to date, has detected 70,000 patients' cancer following a primary care visit at the earliest possible stage of their diagnosis. Let's make 2026 the year we act instead of react to cancer!

@Keir_Starmer Early diagnosis has obviously got to be the key. And this where we should be leaning heavily in this country in to AI. Leading the world with new tech leading to early signs being detected in cancer. It's a win win

I lost my brother to cancer. I was with him when he was told his diagnosis - a moment I will never forget. Throughout, the NHS respected and cared for him. When he passed away, it hit me like a bus - even though I knew it was coming. I'm determined that every person diagnosed with cancer gets the best possible chance of beating it. Our National Cancer Plan is the most ambitious in a generation. It means earlier diagnosis, slashing waiting lists and investing in cutting-edge technology to build an NHS fit for the future.

Lung cancer can be difficult to spot early. Symptoms are often subtle, common, or easy to explain away - that’s why earlier understanding and intervention matters. Through C the Signs, clinicians have now identified over 3,400 patients with lung cancer - helping people move onto the right pathway sooner, with more time and more options ⏱️ Earlier answers don’t create fear, they create clarity - and clarity changes what’s possible 💜 #EarlyDiagnosis #LungCancer #Cancer #NHS #PatientCare #GeneralPractice #PrimaryCare #CancerCare #HealthInnovation #HealthEquity

When cancer is caught earlier, there’s often more time to understand what’s happening, talk things through, and plan next steps with clarity and calm. That time matters - for patients, for families, for the life that continues alongside care 💜 #Cancer #CancerAwareness #Healthcare #EarlyDetection

Primary care teams asked for extra support to spot cancer earlier and bring more clarity to complex symptoms. The ICB listened, and this rollout reflects that shared commitment to safer, earlier diagnosis.

People get used to things. To spicy food 🌶️, to background noise, to feeling a little more tired or “off” than usual. Getting used to something doesn’t always mean it’s nothing. It often just means it’s become familiar. Early detection often starts with noticing those small changes and mentioning them to your local healthcare professional. It doesn’t have to be a big worry - just a conversation that’s worth having 💜
