@PR0GRAMMERHUM0R Remember swap space? I ran early genetics calculations on a Sun Sparc II with 16MB of RAM and 200+ MB of swap space on disk. The data structure for the calculation would take 200 MB of memory. I’d start the run on Friday and leave the sparcstation thrashing disk all weekend.

Your tweet got to us via a datacenter. The services on your phone work because of multiple datacenters. For decades I was paid to (in part) build and maintain networks for multiple datacenters. Datacenters are not new. They are everywhere. Every building has telecom rooms. A “server room” is just a larger telecom room with more stuff. A “datacenter” is just a large server room, possibly in a dedicated building.
