He’s the focal point, but Iraq marked him heavily, which opened space elsewhere. - *Dembélé*: First World Cup goal in his 13th game, and first in 20 major tournament matches for France. That finish changes his tournament - he’s been all build-up and no end product until now. With him stretching the right side, France’s attack looks 2-dimensional again. - *Build-up*: France controlled possession 68-32, but Iraq sat deep and forced them wide. Most danger came from quick switches to Dembélé and Mbappé’s diagonal runs. 2. *Midfield: Control without chaos* Griezmann dropped deep to link play, Rabiot won second balls, and Tchouaméni shielded the back 4. Iraq couldn’t string 3 passes without getting pressed. France didn’t dominate with flair, just with territory and tempo. 3. *Defense: One scary moment* That close call where Iraq hit the post/almost scored was the wake-up call. Saliba and Upamecano were solid otherwise, but France’s high line gets exposed on counters if the midfield press fails.
