@Alex_e_Gibbs @jwinesack66 If I’m 100, the sides way outshined the proteins. Sauces were amazing, but shouldn’t need that much sauce… the meats were pretty dry… staff was amazing, and what’s funny, is while we were there, everyone was super nice and welcoming. Wasn’t till we left when this guy got silly

@jwinesack66 Life must suck when you go back to your Alma mater to have fun, and with all this going on, you’re more more worried about *65 year old having a better time than you … have fun with the rest of your life 👍

I’m officially confirmed to cook at the Open Fire Meet Up in Texas next weekend! 🔥 It’s an absolute honor to be invited to cook alongside some of my heroes in the BBQ world. To say I’m excited would be an understatement! Being recognized by the very people who inspire me is both flattering and humbling—it’s a reminder that when we follow our passions, others can see the spark and potential within us. This opportunity fills my bucket in a way that words can’t fully express. I’ve been thinking a lot about how every interaction, every opportunity, either fills or drains us. One of the top takeaways from the book How Full is Your Bucket? is that positive reinforcement and meaningful experiences can be powerful fuel for the soul. Cooking, especially for events like this, gives me that boost of positivity I need to keep going, stay balanced, and grow. If you’re in the San Antonio area next weekend, I’d love for you to come join us at the Open Fire Meet Up for some great food, great company, and an unforgettable time. Let’s fill some buckets together! 🍖🔥 #OpenFireMeetUp #BBQCommunity #SanAntonio #FollowYourPassion #FillYourBucket

“The Cost of Stagnation: Why Movement Always Wins” In 2008, I was offered a life changing opportunity to become an associate pastor to youth and families in Oregon. My son had just turned one, my wife and I were deeply rooted in California with our home, and all our family lived nearby. We were faced with a huge decision: Do we leave everything and everyone we know for this new chapter, or stay where life was secure? The senior pastor hiring me offered advice that shifted my perspective. He said, “David, no matter what you do, there will be a moment when you’ll regret your decision. If you move, one day you’ll think, ‘I wish I hadn’t done that.’ If you stay, you’ll wonder, ‘What if I had taken that chance?’” His words hit hard. I realized that regret is inevitable, but the regret of inaction is far worse than the regret of taking a chance. Moving forward, despite the uncertainty, is where growth happens. We will always face moments of doubt, but those who move forward are the ones who learn, grow, and ultimately build a life of fewer “what ifs.” My wife and I ultimately took that leap, and while it wasn’t easy, it taught me the importance of movement. Regret from action brings experience; regret from inaction leaves you stuck. Take the leap. Embrace the uncertainty. Movement brings growth. #leadership #decisionmaking #riskandreward #growthmindset #lifelessons #taketheleap #careerchoices #movingforward #embracetheunknown #faithoverfear #progressnotperfection #motivation #regret #leadershipdevelopment #personaldevelopment

Last May, I had the incredible honor of being invited to Memphis to cook alongside some absolute legends in the barbecue world. Over the course of a weekend, our team cooked for 5,000 people — preparing six whole hogs, three goats, around 500 pounds of brisket, hundreds of sausages, and more as the weekend progressed. I recently came across a meme that said, “Men over 40 either get really into World War II history or barbecuing,” and for me, the choice was clear! Barbecue started as a backyard hobby with pellet grills, but soon, my passion grew. With encouragement from some of my peers, I honed my craft, and what started as fun evolved into a love for cooking over open flames. This weekend wasn’t just about food — it was a masterclass in teamwork, adaptability, and leadership. Here are five key lessons from the pit that apply to business and beyond: 1.Teamwork – Just like in business, success comes when everyone plays their part. Cooking for thousands isn’t possible without a well-oiled machine of people who trust each other. 2.Adaptability – Open fire cooking is unpredictable. You’ve got to think on your feet, adjust, and move forward, just like when challenges hit in the workplace. 3.Patience – Whether it’s smoking a brisket or developing a project at work, great things take time and persistence. You can’t rush excellence. 4.Leadership – When you’re leading a team, everyone looks to you for guidance. The best leaders make sure they’re listening, teaching, and setting an example, just like guiding a fire to perfect temperatures. 5.Fulfillment – There’s something deeply satisfying about doing what you love, whether it’s for a crowd of 5,000 or leading a team to a new goal. When passion fuels your actions, the results are always better — and in both areas, you learn that what you love to do professionally and personally feed off each other. Barbecuing has not only become a source of joy, but it’s also sharpened skills that make me a better leader in my day-to-day work. If you’re passionate about something outside of work, lean into it — you’d be surprised at how much it can teach you! #BarbecueLife #Teamwork #Leadership #Adaptability #OpenFireCooking #FindYourPassion
