As an avid outdoorsman, taking care of our state parks has always been a priority. In the last few years, we’ve fully restored over half of Mississippi’s state parks.
Fitting to spend Earth Day with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks discussing how we can continue revitalizing the rest, preserving these places for future generations.

Mississippi knows how to produce champions, and the back-to-back national champion soccer team from Northwest Mississippi Community College is proof of that.
Glad to welcome them to the Capitol today as we recognized their excellence with a Senate proclamation. Congratulations to the Rangers!

The new @MissDPS headquarters is officially open!
I’m proud of the Legislature’s investment in supporting the important work they do to keep our highways and communities safe. This new facility will house one of our largest and most critical agencies, whose people work every day to keep us safe.

One of Mississippi’s largest economic development projects continues to grow. With Amazon Web Services’ expansion in Madison County, the total investment now reaches $25 billion.
That means 2,000 jobs, expanded workforce training, and continued community investment. A big win for Mississippi.

William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine has been ranked #1 in the country for the highest percentage of graduates practicing in primary care and #3 for graduates practicing in rural areas.
The new Institute of Primary Care will build on that success and help fill physician gaps in rural Mississippi.
Congratulations to Dr. Burnett and Dr. Subbarao for their contributions to our state.

Recovering our airmen and sending our men and women around the moon.
What a great country.

This year’s legislative session has delivered major progress in education, support for our military, infrastructure investment, election security, revitalizing local communities, strengthening PERS, and more.
I am proud of the Senate’s work, taking strong stances and staying committed to getting substantive bills across the finish line.
Work is already underway on priorities for the next session, including supporting our agriculture industry, reducing the size of state government, bolstering PERS, and expanding resources for our special needs community.

Tested in Mississippi and sent to the moon.

Liftoff. The Artemis II mission launched from @NASAKennedy at 6:35pm ET (2235 UTC), propelling four astronauts on a journey around the Moon. Artemis II will pave the way for future Moon landings, as well as the next giant leap — astronauts on Mars.

Every child deserves the support to reach their fullest potential. The new Early Learning and Evaluation Center at Ole Miss will help make that a reality.
Today, we signed a beam for this facility, which will house the Willie Price Lab School, provide evaluation and therapy services for children with autism, and train future Certified Behavior Analysts.
It is my hope that Mississippi will be the national leader in serving youth with special needs, and this work is a key part of that vision.
Thank you to Chancellor Glenn Boyce and Dr. David Rock for their passion and leadership.

Enjoyed welcoming Mississippi State basketball star Josh Hubbard to the Senate today.
Josh has represented our state with excellence both on and off the court, and the Senate was proud to present him with a resolution recognizing his outstanding career with @HailStateMBK.

The Mississippi National Guard continues to represent our state well in Washington D.C.
The 890th Engineer Battalion is the 4th turn of soldiers to be deployed on a mission to our nation's capitol, and this morning we wished them a safe departure.
We cannot thank them enough for their service and wish them a successful deployment!

The passage of the Mississippi Grain Indemnity Act this session is a win for our agriculture community.
Our farmers should not go unpaid for their hard work because of someone else’s failure. Senate Bill 2631 creates a protection fund, allowing grain farmers to voluntarily contribute a small percentage of sales to provide financial assistance to a fellow farmer in the event of a major loss if a grain dealer or storage facility fails.
Agriculture is the backbone of our economy, and we will continue to support those who feed, fuel, and clothe our state.

Good news out of the Capitol this week for our communities along the Yazoo River.
The Senate passed SB 2408, allowing the construction of a levee along the Yazoo River for flood control. The project will help protect 123,000 acres of agricultural land and Delta communities from flooding when the Mississippi River rises and backs up the Yazoo River.
Flooding has been an ongoing challenge in this part of our state, so this project is long overdue. We were glad to help move this forward.

Today, the Mississippi Senate has amended House Bill 1395 to provide a $6,000 teacher pay raise, a $9,000 special education teacher pay raise, and a $2,000 pay raise for assistant teachers, community college instructors, and university professors.
A teacher pay raise has been a priority of the Senate’s since day one of this legislative session. The educators who are shaping the future of our state are invaluable, and supporting their work is key.
