There is significant misinformation being shared on social media regarding CFIA’s proposed traceability regulations. CCA worked with provincial associations and other industry associations to provide input to ensure the regulations follow the Cattle Implementation Plan which was led by the cattle industry. No new regulations were implemented on January 1, 2026. CCA will continue to work with provincial members and governments to ensure that any proposed changes work for producers. We are calling for a pause to address the concerns that we are hearing.

Is this the most risky time to be in the cattle business? We have 6 hours to decide what to do about it.

Hey all my cattle feeding friends! We have this year’s steer calves listed for sale on Friday’s TEAM sale for late January delivery. These 300 calves averaged 2.4lbs/day to just before weaning. Check out the listing here: teamauctionsales.com/Tyton-Farms-Lt…

@Sask_F7 Haha I can appreciate this. A couple of weeks ago, we were rolling corn right off the combine, and trying to continuously move the whole setup to form a long pile to cover with plastic

I don’t think words can convey how pumped I was to get this all positioned just right! Milling barley, out of one bin and back into the next.

We’ll keep speaking up until the message is clear: Bill C-282 is bad trade policy. A big thank you to our Vice President, Tyler Fulton, for amplifying our concerns on this crucial issue. Help us spread the word. Click here to write to your provincial senator today: keepcanadatrading.ca

Sorry to hear of the passing of Bob Sopuck. Admired his passion for conservation and the outdoors. A true environmentalist who we could all learn from. Condolences to Bob's family and friends.

Risks to calf prices? Disease concerns, exchange rates, plant closures, consumer confidence. I’m protecting against these with lpi.ca, learn how by watching 👇🏻

“The Canadian beef industry is a strong advocate of free and open trade. To avoid getting a bad trade deal for Canadians, we need trade partners that want to trade fairly and not use rules and regulations to their own advantage.” Nathan Phinney, CCA bit.ly/48Qo2VA

@RonKrahn @FCCagriculture We made the switch about 4 years ago and after the initial relearning/adjustment period it’s been excellent! I like accessing on different devices, especially payroll or invoicing when I’m away. I would not go back.

Been using FCC Analyst/AgExpert for years for farm acctg. Considering switching to the cloud based FCC acctg system for ‘24. Good move or stay with Analyst? What’s #AgTwitter experience? @FCCagriculture

@EdieCrk_Howrey @eskertrailfarms I love the thought process here. We tried something similar where we put chopped silage in wind rows at around 50% moisture. It mostly spoiled before we could get the cows into it. So maybe the sweet spot is to chop new piles every 3-4 days as needed?

We got this idea from the winter of 2019/2020. The fall of 2019 was so wet that no one could get their corn silage off until late in the fall when it was cold. And when they did chop it, none of it ensiled. Even if it was in a bag. So wanted to emulate that. Thought was to chop it late enough that it would be close to dry and cold enough that no ensiling or mild growth could happen. Unfortunately we made a mistake and chopped it on a warm day last week. And the weather has been warm ever since. The piles did start to heat. For some of the piles we pulled them apart to make the smaller piles. About 98% of those have stopped heating, and look great. But we didn’t know if that was going to work, so for the rest of the piles we borrowed a heavy packer attachment, and packed the piles…like we mentioned, we are doing an experiment, making mistakes and learning from them. Hoping that sharing them on social media would help folks think outside the box…and learn from our mistakes!

Sharing an experiment we are doing….Think bale grazing but with chopped corn. We grazed standing corn last winter, and wanted to come up with a way to level their diet. Take out the highs and lows. Small piles of chopped corn. Moving the wire twice a day. Straw or hay fed in rings.
