@Sadie_NC America's attack on Iran was way more like Russia's attack on Ukraine than anything else, except that Iran funds irregular armed groups. The action may have been wholly justified but Trump made it unilateral without any consultation with its alleged allies.

You realize that Iran bombed countries hosting American military bases—after the U.S. had attacked them? You can argue many things. The Iranian regime is brutal toward its own population. It is a threat to Israel. It funds terrorist groups. But it’s absurd to claim that it posed a direct threat to the United States.

I'm concerned that after Europe's utter stupidity, Russia will start mounting even bolder 'hybrid' attacks which could accidentally or deliberately trigger a war that Europe isn't ready for, and for which we won't have US help. We are led by idiots.

The real danger for the United States will be the petrodollar. The deal has been that America protects the Arab states, and in return they price oil in dollars. Now the Arabs are seeing that the Americans may not be able to protect them. Why should they continue selling oil in dollars? The U.S. pulls out of NATO, the petrodollar system collapses. If that happens, it would mark the end of America’s dominance.
