NYC REALITY CHECK: THIS IS WHAT IT COSTS JUST TO PARK YOUR CAR
A video breaking down Manhattan garage prices is going viral… and people are stunned.
We’re talking $1,100+ to $1,300+ PER MONTH just to park.
Not rent. Not a mortgage.
Just… parking.
Prices change block by block, neighborhood by neighborhood - because space is THAT limited.
And the posted price?
Yeah… that’s not always the real price either.
This is everyday life in Manhattan.
At what point does this stop making sense? ⬇️ 🇺🇸

@ThrillaRilla369 I don’t see people dress like this in public in Connecticut
English

@JebraFaushay The way he said “YOU’RE Justin Timberlake.” Makes me think he was messing with him about not knowing who he is
English

@soooooooupy @nonamesleft24 @wormboybuck @SatoruBuckley This is how my grandma’s neighborhood does it. he mailman parks his truck at the bottom of the street and walks to deliver everyone’s mail to the mailbox on their house
English

@nonamesleft24 @wormboybuck @SatoruBuckley my mailbox is right outside of my front door attached to the house, more rural areas tend to have the box at the end of the driveway
English

@mvpnjigba @nonamesleft24 @wormboybuck @SatoruBuckley I have never seen a mailbox with a lock. PO boxes or mail slots in apartment building have locks , but not mailboxes at the curb
English

@nonamesleft24 @wormboybuck @SatoruBuckley Most of the modern ones have locks but the older ones are vulnerable to theft
English

@nonamesleft24 @wormboybuck @SatoruBuckley Honor system. Plus if you get caught going through someone’s mailbox it’s a felony
English

@wormboybuck @SatoruBuckley As a non American it seems wild. Anyone can just go up and open it? So when you have something sensitive or important or a new card sent to you it's just left out there for anyone? Surely that makes identity theft so easy lmao

@21_North_ @AlpacaAurelius Some people can do that without getting burned. A lot of people, like me, can’t go outside with my shoulders and back exposed without getting badly sunburned
English

@AlpacaAurelius Really sad, I lived in Hawaii for 35 years and never used sunscreen. The sunscreen actually causes the cancer
English

@ChristinaPushaw @AlpacaAurelius Fabric blocks out much more sun than sunscreen does.
English

@AlpacaAurelius Not really insane. They spend so much time doing procedures to remove skin cancers and they see more than anyone else how bad those can get. Also, interesting that they're wearing protective clothing and hats rather than relying on sunscreen to protect them...
English

@AlpacaAurelius Skin cancer is a thing. I would not dress like this at the beach, but I get sunburn every time I go to the beach no matter how much sunscreen I put on, which is both uncomfortable and puts you at risk for skin cancer
English

@ThrillaRilla369 I knew my great-grandfather on my dad’s side, but he died when I was 5, so I don’t remeber much about him
English

@Jack_Hinson214 @Simon_Ingari It sounds like they’re on salary, which means no overtime
English

Gen X: Roger that boss. I could use the overtime. I want to get promoted anyway so I can earn more money for the same hours of work down the road, so am happy to pitch in. Besides, if I put that OT pay towards the principal on my mortgage, I'll have that 30 year note paid off in 15 years and can modestly retire in my mid 50's. I think after I retire I will take up gaming as a hobby. See ya bright and early at 7:45. I like to arrive early to prepare for the days work.
English

Manager: I have you scheduled for a meeting at 7 PM tomorrow.
Gen Z: Is my attendance mandatory?
Manager: Yes, we’re working with a client in another time zone.
Gen Z: Okay, I’m happy to shift my hours to accommodate.
Manager: Excuse me, no—you still start at 8 AM.
Gen Z: If I’m working in the evening, then I’ll start later in the day.
Manager: Okay, don’t watch the clock at this company. We work when we need to work.
Gen Z: I’m contracted and paid for 40 hours a week, so that is what I work.
Manager: That’s a career-limiting move. Tomorrow is a busy day; I’ll need you to start right promptly at 8:00 AM.
Gen Z: Alright then, I will take the lieu time later this week.
Manager: Again, that’s not how we operate at this company. You work hard when you need to, and you don’t watch the clock.
Gen Z: Again, I work for the hours I’m paid for, and since overtime is not an option, I’ll go ahead and adjust my hours this week to accommodate the shift in the schedule.
Manager: You’re not quite understanding the company culture we have here—we work all the time.
Gen Z: And you’re not understanding that just because that is the way you do things does not mean that is how I’m required to do things as well.
Manager: (Silence)

@danielking100 @luxemiaa When you book a flight you select your own seats. If you want to ensure that all of the seats are together in a group that big then you have to book early enough.
English

@luxemiaa If a family books 8 tickets at the same time, the airline should give them 8 seats next to one another. This is an airline problem caused by greed and deceptive pricing schemes.
English

This woman on Instagram shared: I’m at the airport and there’s a family of 8 people on my flight with small children, I just overheard the dad say, “All of our seats are all over the place, no one is close to each other because I didn’t want to pay extra for assigned seats. We’ll switch around when we get on the plane.” Suffice it to say, I hate them....

@CathalMcGrgr @rafagadeviento9 I don’t like the vibe in Chicago
English

It fucks me up that the US created New York and then said never again
Erik Bernhardsson@bernhardsson
15 years living in NYC and every time I come back I still feel like a peasant in the 1700s entering St. Peter’s Basilica or something
English

@liberalsrhomo @rafagadeviento9 The Dutch would like a word

@rafagadeviento9 We didn’t create it , Italian men did. European immigrants
