@ZealousSeraphim I like some of the content that people make on here but the online holy larps can be tiresome. I find a mix of Orthodox and some of my other interests in the timeline is ideal.

@jbillinson I revoked its permissions to manage screen time in system preferences and then it's completely non-functional. All these "tools" have easy workarounds.

Deeply humiliating to realize how much this overpriced chunk of plastic has improved my quality of life in just a week.

@jbillinson I have brick and it’s great. I don’t have issues with overusing my phone but there’s still an impulse to see what’s going on every few hours and this eliminates that so focus can stay steady. Great product.

And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”

@Xaraphim You’re viewing this from your perspective. You are likely not power hungry. There are some leaders that would see the blast and find it enticing. They would imagine themselves wielding that power rather than being terrified.

genuine question that i think about more than i should should the US coordinate with every nuclear power and detonate a live nuclear device on global broadcast television pick a dead zone in the pacific or something every superpower signs off, every camera on earth pointed at it, every nation watching simultaneously we have entire generations of world leaders who have never actually witnessed what a nuclear weapon does to the physical world they read about hiroshima, they see the old footage, and then they go back to their meetings and throw the word around like its nothing a live unedited detonation changes that permanently imo you cannot unsee it you cannot go back to your summit and casually threaten nuclear war after watching it happen in real time with every other nuclear power standing next to you the terror of these weapons has faded into abstraction and that abstraction is genuinely dangerous is this delusional or is nobody saying it because it sounds crazy on the surface

@AngloVarangian No. That’s just a very large fire from something burning after a direct strike. Possibly oil related. Everyone would be very aware if it was a tactical nuke.

@VigilantFox I’m sorry but this is a joke. They don’t actually have the ability to give precise numbers on all of this. There’s a study for everything you can imagine at this point.

Patrick Bet-David gets blown away when doctor reveals which type of exercise truly cuts your risk of premature death. DR. RHONDA PATRICK: “New data shows that if you’re doing vigorous-intensity exercise… for every one minute you do of that, if you’re wanting to lower all-cause mortality, you have to do four minutes of moderate intensity or an hour and a half of light.” PBD looked confused and stopped her to clarify what he had just heard. DR. PATRICK REITERATED: “So for every one minute of vigorous intensity is four minutes of moderate intensity. You have to do four minutes [of moderate exercise] to get [the same] all-cause mortality [benefits]. Light is an hour and a half.” PBD: “Stop it.” DR. RHONDA PATRICK: “That’s for all-cause mortality. Dying from all non-accidental causes. It gets better.” PBD: “Oh my god.” DR. RHONDA PATRICK: “If you’re wanting to prevent cardiovascular-related mortality, for every one minute of vigorous [exercise], okay, this is cycling, this is jogging, swimming, you have to do eight minutes of moderate intensity [to reap the same benefits]… So eight minutes of that. Or… the one- to two-hour range of light exercise. So that would be just walking around the house basically.”

@BrentScher Radical politics are more normalized now. Expect to see more of this from both sides. We’re speeding toward the paradigm that the world was in 100 years ago.

I have bad news….Democrats are getting smarter. Yes, this woman running as a Dem in Virginia is prob just as radical as Abigail Spanberger. But this just came across my Instagram feed and, casually watching it, I didn’t even know it was a Democrat — it was just a great video.

Its hilarious to see conservatives boycotting the half time show to watch an alternative one. You aren’t proving anything and no one cares. You’re still watching the Super Bowl and they’re still getting paid because of your views My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent - Proverbs 1:10

You will not find modern solutions for population collapse because modernity has caused the problem. Only a return to classic virtues and ethics will fix the problem. It has nothing to do with finances, hope about the future etc. If it did then wealthy people would be having more kids.

Peter Thiel on population collapse: “There is something very odd about a world where people are not reproducing.” “It’s probably entangled with the stagnation, the decline, pessimism about the future. “I disagree with @elonmusk in that— I don’t think there’s some kind of magic thing you can do around natalism.” “People are not reproducing in all 50 states in the US. They’re low in Italy, in South Korea, in Iran.” “The fact that it’s this universal conserved phenomenon tells you something very deep about late modernity— there’s probably no magic bullet solution.”
sourcery@sourceryy

Menlo Ventures’ @deedydas on fertility and population collapse: “Humanity in the modern day has never seen an extended period of time where the population has fallen systemically.” “A lot of our economic growth is built on the fact that consumption continues to grow. Consumption continues to grow, for a large part, because the world population continues to grow. What happens when the population starts shrinking? “You’re not going to buy double the furniture and double everything.”
