What shifted me to perennialism was the issue of doxastic involuntarism. Humans are unable to choose what they truly believe. They can practice , but that’s contingent on many aspects. But true belief is dependant on the mind being compelled.

@GabrielSaidR @YouTube Rather than directly through an established Christian community in the Hijaz. And the subsequent Rashiduns would be ruling over Christian regions who are not far from the Hijaz but again this doesn’t necessitate substantial presence for knowledge and cultural exchange.

@GabrielSaidR @YouTube Well the simple Islamic position this is just the all knowing God revealing things that will be understood and heard by Christian’s wherever later on. But there were Christian communities in the peninsular, knowledge of these things can spread through trade routes etc

@ProfilStandard but yea no I’m not actually a sufist lmao i just consider several non-dual articulations in sufism to be correct and adequate expressions of the dynamics of truth that are revealed to the intellect.

@IjazTheTrini @maranathamatt Yes , I think the scholarly consensus is that Epistle to the Philippians 2:6–11 is Paul drawing from pre existing High Christology traditions. But yes he formalises his perceived encounter within LXXX. He interprets his encounter under a Jewish Greco-Roman lens.

@From_Stigmata @maranathamatt IIRC Paul draws more from the LXX in his letters than from a gospel source/ tradition, but I do believe he had access to those traditions/ logai.

Let's answer your questions: [[What and where is the book revealed to Jesus?]] The Injīl is a revelation given to Christ Jesus, containing teachings about the six articles of faith and the sharīʿah, see Qurʾān 3:48-63. This is attested to by the gospel of Mark which reads, “τοῦ εὐαγγελίου Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ” (the gospel which Jesus Christ brings), where Mark 1:1 is rendered in the subjective genitive. Where is it? Mostly lost to history, God did not promise to preserve it, but rather the opposite when proceeded by the final revelation to mankind, the Qurʾān, which God did promise to preserve, see Qurʾān 2:106, 15:9. [[Let me guess, Allah couldn’t protect it and it has been lost?]] Let's use that same logic for the gospels, where are the autographic/ ausgangstext texts? Since you can't find them, does that mean your (conception of) God couldn't protect his word?

That's hard to say, the sayings gospels (and perhaps the Injīl) were clearly early and constituted a rich κήρυγμα/ λογαι dataset. It's within the realm of reason that the original teachings of Christ Jesus likely survived as a coherent source until 70 CE, after which the gentile churches flourished with their own literary traditions and writings in the voice of Jesus (ipsissima vox).

@KermoTP1 @IjazTheTrini It’s influenced by later Gnostics who developed it with their own existing theological priors. But you have that with the Biblical Gospels. Wisdom Christology, High Christology etc.

@From_Stigmata Yes. This book was particularly useful for comparisons with it and the 4 canonical gospels.

An interesting consensus among those in biblical studies is that there ironically, is no concept of strict 'monotheism' in the Hebrew Bible. What really happened is that originally it became polytheistic, and then transitioned into a monolatry, then into monotheism. 🧵 #biblicalstudies #bible #ancientisrael #religion
Ola Wikander@OlaWikander

There is (basically) no monotheism in the Hebrew Bible (in fact, the term is more or less meaningless). Linguistic reconstruction is not in any way "problematic" (if done with methodological rigor). The Hebrew Bible makes zero sense without reading it in its NWS context.

@lucus090909 So God does ontologically cares about us. He even provides messages to our benefit. We could easily land on participatory metaphysics here.

@stewjo004 @historenthusias @IjazTheTrini In Christian and Islamic doctrine. Death is defined as separation of soul from body. God as a divine entity does not have a soul. So can’t die in His divine nature. He could experience death as a being if he were to incarnate but that’s experience a human death not a divine one.

@historenthusias @IjazTheTrini It contradicts God's attribute as "The Ever Living." Plus, if through His will, existence is maintained, His death then naturally ends it

The woodwork depicting the fall and human depravity is something to beholden. The religion of Christianity inspired so much beautification.
