@CFC_Nandos 2018 is less uniform but they generally all dipped in 2017. Common denominator there is first year of massive new broadcast deal. Tbh pre-Covid EPL clubs were generally profitable...then that hit and wages kept zooming up while revenue didn't

@GameStateUK Happened to all the big 6 clubs as well right, was that due to a new broadcast deal or just a coincidence of revenue increasing and/or wages decreasing

@CFC_Nandos Commercial income went up a fair chunk and club returned to Champions League (weren't in it in 2017) so boosted TV money too

Spurs long been EPL club with best wage control, and 2023/24 was little different, with their wages to turnover falling to just 42% - a figure no other club comes close to Stark contrast to Aston Villa (96%), who finished one spot ahead of #THFC last season to qualify for UCL

#THFC generally low wage-payers, and underwent significant £29m (12%) cut to £222m in 2023/24. Wage drop driven by departures of Harrys Kane and Winks and Davinson Sánchez in the summer, followed by Hugo Lloris in January Spurs finished 5th with EPL 7th-highest wage bill
