Rental mindset is a slave mindset. I wasted 10 years renting which is probably about $1 million or more over my lifetime.
She doesn’t want to deal with the hassle of ownership so she’s going to dump $2k a month in rent down the toilet for the rest of of her life which she could have saved in equity. $2k x 12 months is 24,000 x 30 years is $720,000 that could be IN HER OWN POCKET in equity (doesn’t even calculate interest and appreciation) That vastly outweighs taxes and the occasional expenditures for maintenance. This is insane, she’s making a terrible mistake IMO. If this is a ‘trend’ it’s a TERRIBLE one and we should educate young people to fight it.
Do not ever accept a renters mindset - that’s what they want. Rich people own things - poor people rent them.

Microsoft is once again back to its old habits: giving up at the last sprint.
Now turning to Xbox's studios, who were disrupted by Covid for years, mismanaged, and pushed to ship games in forms that clearly didn't have mass appeal ... the devs shouldn't be the ones punished for it. Let them cook.

For the headlines I think Valve is going to try to get as close to $1,000 as possible with Machine, maybe we'll see a version with basically no storage around that price. But if we're talking about any reasonable storage probably closer to $1,300 maybe even $1,500 at this point.

3 things derailed this gen of xbox
1. The lack of consistent great games and that most of their anticipated games were simply not good aside from Forza Horizon.
2. Phil decided Xbox Series X stock was better to use in the cloud servers for 1 billion unicorn gamers with tech worse than Stadia today.
3. They kept telling people to not buy xbox consoles

@FuuTop1 people seem to forgot the beggining of Gen9 seemed extremely promising for Xbox and they were competitive-ish with PS5 (mainly in the US) and were outselling the X1. it started going badly with cloud focus then latitude and they simply giving up on selling the damn console.

Valve is finally saying the Steam Machine is shipping this summer, but of course, they still left out the one thing everyone wants to know: the price. • Steam Machine and Steam Frame is expected this summer • Valve is expanding Steam Verified beyond Steam Deck • Steam Machine will have its own Verified system • Steam Frame standalone games will also get verification • No exact release date yet • No official price yet • Price is the real concern with memory and hardware costs rising I want the Steam Machine to do well, but Valve to watch their steps.

What some folks need to understand about being a wholly owned subsidiary of a parent company is you do NOT have any type of operational independence, AT ALL. You can do what you want until the boss, parent, says otherwise.
The only independence that exists is legal.
