I find it interesting that when real long-term "traveler" types finally stop moving, they tend to settle in fairly specific areas. Very few "go home" to Toledo or whatever. Tons of them wind up in Tucson, and I understand why. New Orleans too.

@shagbark_hick You’re correct! I know of them. I’m not nearly as involved in parish as many. Wouldn’t be insulted if don’t know me.Mostly go to mass say the obligatory hellos, leave and stick to my friend circle otherwise . Granted you only came Up once. Not a negative thing said

@nealjclark1 I work from home in insurance. Low stress, good pay, and rewarding bc I have metrics that show how well I’m doing. I might like it even more if I had an office to go to. White collar 9-5 haters are babies. Easiest way to make $ in history.

The Boykin Spaniel has the mysterious quality of simultaneously looking like the dumbest and most intelligent dog breed there is.

I don’t know a single married couple that puts their kids in daycare because they have to have a dual income to get by. White collar work is much easier than raising children, and it pays for more vacations, restaurants, etc. That’s why daycare is popular.

@itsrapha83 I remember the scale of this Church just blowing my mind. The vaulted ceiling looked as high as the heavens.

It will cost me $30 a year and takes a minute to apply. I told my dermatologist about it, and she had never heard of it. This is the first alternative medicine solution I’ve found online that actually works.

I was desperately scouring reddit for ideas, and one treatment consistently got rave reviews - MCT oil. I was cautiously optimistic. It cured my condition in 2 days. I still can’t believe a decade of misery was resolved in a few days by a fat derived from coconuts.

I’ve dealt with seborrheic dermatitis on my face for over a decade, and it progressively worsened. Two dermatologists prescribed harsh medication that didn’t work. Tried carnivore for ~3 months. Didn’t help at all.

But in the works of Chesterton, Belloc, or Sarris, their worldview revolves around an intoxicating and childlike wonderment at life. It’s not rational - it’s purely spiritual, and it doesn’t care if it looks foolish to outsiders.

I mourn moments lost and the passage of time more than I revel in joys present. It’s a subtle (German?) pessimism, not to be confused with sadness or depression. I’m generally very happy and grateful for my life.

Reading Chesterton’s “Heretics” has given me a full understanding of the way @simonsarris sees the world. It’s a Catholic world-feeling, whether he knows it or not. It’s also a dying world-feeling, crushed by the revolution in expectations through materialism and social media.

@BirthGauge This doesn’t apply to blue collar work. There aren’t many 65 year old bricklayers out there.
