We have veteran chase handicaps that are extremely popular with the racing public & connections.
Could we not introduce some (fewer perhaps?) similar races for veteran hurdlers?
There are plenty of much loved horses who would benefit.

FOR FRIENDSHIP 🏆 makes it 3 on the spin in 🇫🇷 with a comfortable success in the closing race at Auteuil on Saturday. His first win over obstacles since his 3 yo days but he’s deserved that for his consistency since returning to @EcurieSeror.

And followed up today by NORMANDY MAN 🏆 showing a smart turn of foot to win on hurdles debut having been held up in rear, picking up the favourite late on. He had some smart flat form (rated 86) and 🤞 plenty more to come over obstacles.

A good couple of days in 🇫🇷 with DAMABIAH ANGEL a comfortable winner under Christian Demuro yesterday. She’ll be heading 3 yo hurdling at some stage but might have more to come on the flat first.

@JamesFGun @quarterfirst4 None of them should be insured. As soon as you buy a yearling it’s value resets to much less than zero and the horse has then to reclaim the value if it is any good🤷🏻♂️

I just got around to watching the Bashrr Watts video - flat out today
Claims that £1,200 a month is rubbish - hmm, I can confirm that is untrue.
Another interesting aspect is when he cuts the insurance to try and save money 😀

@quarterfirst4 I’d say pretty much every trainer would have a couple of horses in the yard they’d be very happy to lease (or even better to sell!) a week away from a run…

And cutting insurance when it’s obvious the horse isn’t worth anything is a sensible move.
More surprised that a) quotes the figures inc VAT, since it’s reclaimable and b) you’d persevere given low ability 🐎

Lowest field in modern times with just 10 runners for the 41k Eider chase. Connections obsessed about wanting to run at Cheltenham in a 20 runner Ultima or NH chase or wait for Aintree after a hard season when there's a 40k race to be won. Horses rated 117, 126, 127 etc have won this. Horses were rated same or higher at Exeter and Warwick today for a quarter of prize money. Some of these yards' race planning is truly shocking.

On what basis could you re-open entries when the race is being run as scheduled?
If there was more PM available for it presumably it would already be there?

@JamesFGun Re-open the 2m5f mares' hurdle, increase the prize money if necessary and get a better, competitive field for it, for the track, ITV and betting purposes, instead of splitting the talent? And it is still a black-type race either way.
