Israel does this in the name of Zionism. Its leadership explicitly defines this as part of it. When the mainstream American Zionist orgs don’t denounce this, it erodes their institutional credibility and is incredibly damaging towards American Jews

Have listened to right leaning Jews and Zionists say for years that Obama hated us and Israel so much, that the dem party is so antisemitic, because they allowed $$$ to reach Iran. This is so far beyond that, it’s unreal

Obama agreed to $1.3 billion in sanctions relief for Iran as part of a deal that prevented both an Iranian nuke and a war. Trump withdrew from the deal, started a war that will likely result in Iran obtaining a nuke, and gave Iran $14 billion in sanctions relief.

People who dislike Israel should not conflate it with American Jews -just as people should not conflate the PRC with Chinese Americans or ISIS with American Muslims. And (not but) synagogues should not say "We stand with Israel" because it encourages that conflation. It makes congregants less safe but, more importantly, given what Israel is doing, it's morally indefensible. The only people I’ve seen say this is a bad idea root for a specific basketball team. If the doctors say you are ready to play, you should play. It’s not like he’s coming back in the middle of the finals and the team doctors are the ones who pushed him to play
