@the_Lawrenz I guess is because of our system back home, where cleaners in companies or labourers on sites are not really paid well and not that valued. A sub contractor on my site said he did a job in London and everyone on site got paid the same money neglecting your position..

In 2024, when I visited Stamford Bridge for the first time, I saw an old friend. I was happy to see a familiar face and almost wanted to ask how I could also get a job at Chelsea. Before I could say anything, he started explaining that he was just doing the work on the side. He tried to make it clear that he was bigger than that. In my mind, I thought: Brother, you don’t have to explain anything to me. It’s honest work. Why do you feel the need to say it’s only something you do on the side? I think we, Nigerians have been culturally and inherently conditioned to look down on certain job roles and occupations simply because of status. I can’t fully explain it, but I wish we placed more value on labor, especially honest labor.

The way Nigerians bastardize Care Work in the UK 🇬🇧 makes me wonder if classism was transported there too. During my last visit, a friend of mine was so ashamed to open up that he does Care Work. I was really pissed off. As a CARER or HCA, you are a core part of the MDT just as the Nurse or Doctor.

Many years ago, I landed in a new country with just $600 and a head full of hope. No guarantees. Just faith. Two weeks in, reality hit hard. My host that I was supposed to stay with till I get myself together chased me out. No warning, no backup plan. Just like that, I was outside, trying to figure out my next move. Someone told me to go to meet his cousin in New York who could help. I went. I waited at the train station… hours passed… then night came. The person never showed up, and stopped picking my calls. That moment could have broken me. But I refused to fold. I took myself back by bus to Maryland, got a hotel for a few days, and sat down to restructure my life. I really don’t understand how the system really works. People were just telling me to go to Craigslist and search for jobs. But I needed an accommodation at least. I couldn’t afford to stay in the Hotel for more days. I finally thought of a friend whose Dad lives here. I spoke to him and he linked me up with his Dad who then linked me to someone from Ekiti State who decided to accomodate me. A complete stranger who showed me kindness when I needed it the most. He gave me a place to stay till I got back on my feet. From there, things started to shift. I got my driver’s license. I got a job in a restaurant. I started building step by step, no shortcuts. And this picture? This is the first car I bought just 7 months into the journey. Not for luxury, but because commuting to work was a struggle I needed to overcome. Fast forward to today, I have own better cars, what I made in an entire month back then, I now make more than double of that in just one week. I’m in the category of people who make 6 figures annually in this country. All Glory be to God. If you’re in a hard place right now, hear this you’re not stuck, you’re just in the middle of your story. Keep pushing.

This is why I advise those who are close to me on student visas to do 2FA when it comes to opportunities, apply for the great opportunities in Lagos/Abuja as you're applying for the ones in London. If you can leverage your UK degree to apply for opportunities in Netheralnds and Germany, apply too!

Dear new immigrants couples in the UK, especially those that came in on study visa, do whatever you can not to give birth until you have a solid and stable visa. Struggling for skills worker visa (work visa) after school when you have a baby will fuck you up mentally. Do family planning if you need to, practice safe sex if you need to. JUST DO NOT GIVE BIRTH IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A SOLID AND STABLE VISA, except you don’t mind going back to your home country.

Think about this critically without being emotional. Let’s say you are earning $150K per year. That’s a lot of money. Do you think any company is happy to part with $150K every year? No, they are not! They pay you because of two reasons: 1. The value you bring them is much more than $150K a year and 2. That’s what the market rate is for that role. AI is changing both reasons. 1. With AI, they are able to get that same value for much less, sometimes almost 80% less, which makes it a no-brainer for them. 2. Because of the company-agnostic nature of AI, it’s affecting the entire market so rates are down, by a lot too. So, what should you do? Earmark an hour or two everyday to figure out how to use AI in your line of work. Play with it. Master it. Become a better project manager, software developer, tax advisor, whatever, with it. Companies will always need flesh and blood humans. The question is how many. You want to be among the few left because you have taken control of your own career destiny. Protect the bag at all cost!

@Xeunbadejo @AdesojiAdejolu Don’t just research, read, but rather implement and act. We need solutions now at the moment. Industrial solutions at large. The AI revolution all backed from a Data centre, how many data centres do we have? Power, Cooling, Monitoring, Fire, Security solutions are all needed

If you’re African, develop a habit of reading research papers in your domain, especially now in the AI era. Courses are great and all but you get to a point you start to see patterns emerge, things become cyclical and repetitive especially if you’re like me and you care more about the knowledge. Research papers show you what people are experimenting with and what their results are. They show you where the industry is headed and the pieces being figured out and if you’re lucky or simply just badass enough, you’ll see a connection that nobody else has seen and you just might be positioned to act on it faster or in a better way than most since it’s in your domain anyways.

Robotics in Nigeria 🤖🇳🇬 🪧Traditional manufacturing processes that relied heavily on manual labor are being supplemented and in some cases replaced by automated systems. Nigerian manufacturers in sectors such as food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, cement production, and consumer goods are leading this charge. Companies like Dangote Group, Nestle Nigeria, and Nigerian Breweries have invested significantly in automated production lines, quality control systems, and inventory management solutions. 🪧Sustainable Manufacturing: Automation is enabling Nigerian factories to implement more sustainable practices through precise resource management, waste reduction, and energy optimization. This aligns with global sustainability trends and export market requirements. 💡Industry analysts predict that Nigeria’s smart manufacturing market will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 12-15% through 2030. This growth will be driven by increased foreign investment, government support, and growing awareness of automation’s benefits. (Article source: How Nigerian Factories Are Adopting Automation share.google/7oc60DvBvc3ZgU… ) The Nigerian robotics market is yet to fully bloom. Now's the best time to build a career in it. Being on Instagram these past two weeks has opened my eyes to a lot of things I didn’t know about AI. In Nigeria, we are so used to using AI for African folktale stories, funny cooking videos, memes and short Nigerian movies. But I hardly see people use AI for the things I’m currently seeing on Instagram. Guys, people are using AI for time travel content. People are using AI for history content. People are using AI for ASMR videos and more. There are literally so many niches you can go into in the AI space and actually make good money from. I have seen accounts using AI to create talking head videos and land brand deals. Real brand deals. And you know what? I took time to compile about 45 of these niches into a document that I’ll be sharing inside the AI Income Hub. I just hope you’re ready. Be there. Link in comment
