The idea to have NIL transfer fees for all sports is fantastic btw. Should be implemented asap.

Meanwhile, the Senate just voted to block an effort by Chuck Schumer to hold a vote on a standalone bill to pay TSA workers. Ninth time Republicans have blocked pay for TSA workers, per Schumer's office.

Pizza making has been fully automated. This has been true for years. But if you go into a pizza shop across the country, it's mostly still people doing it by hand. Can automate != will automate

"I KNEW this call was meant to happen. We just launched a new promotion!" - Sales rep of a vendor trying to get me to switch phone providers. Amazing how there is always a promo when I am looking.

@LeeCEldridge Some progressives preferring it doesn’t mean that’s what Democratic leadership wanted—especially since they couldn’t even get the votes for a public option. That alone shows the party wasn’t aligned on anything close to single-payer.

@Knightwolfbr Well... both. They were willing to settle for a public option during debates (BTW those debates were within his own party) because that actually moves the ACA even further towards single payer. Which was the end goal of both Obama and the DEMs who wrote the ACA.

@LeeCEldridge Lee, are you talking about Dems or Obama because your thread started as a victory lap about Obama admitting something that: 1) He said since the beginning ("first step") 2) Was not what he wanted (he wanted public option) So who are we talking about before be go into this?

@Knightwolfbr eye roll Andre let's at least have an honest conversation here. What is the end result that the DEMs who pushed for the ACA wanted? It's OK to say it.

@LeeCEldridge A first step toward fixing issues with the US Healthcare system. He was also a fan of the public option though that ended up getting cut out of it.

I am not even worried about "writ[ing] more informative and interesting stories". With Polymarket and Kalshi allowing betting on future events...having insider information is a big deal.
Robin Hanson@robinhanson

Many worried about "insider trading", but few worry about "insider journalism". But is it fair that reporters with better connections write more informative and interesting stories? Shouldn't we make sure news stories are only based on public info equally open to all reporters?
