My 14-year-old asked if she could go to a party with her friends. I said no. That should have been the end of the discussion. Instead, one of her little friends actually called my phone to ask why I wouldn’t let her go. I explained that I wasn’t comfortable with my daughter being at some random party. Apparently that answer was unacceptable. The boy kept arguing with me like we were two adults negotiating a business deal.
