Is anyone actually using crypto this cycle? Be honest. It seems like the only active uses in 2024 are Bitcoin hodling and memecoin gambling. Defi dead. NFTs dead. Cross-chain / L2s dead. Gaming dead. Farming dead. ICOs dead. NFTs dead. Supply chain dead. This cycle has been the least promising cycle for “crypto” development since the Ethereum launched in 2015. After 15 years, the only high value products I can see today are: 1. Bitcoin. Store of value. Always the most important. 2. Stablecoins. Ability to hedge and move fiat quickly. 3. Futures arbitrage ("the carry trade" and Ethena) For this part of the cycle, this is the least active real use case development has been in the crypto ecosystem in my time. Hopefully we will see a resurgence later in the year. I can see a strong comeback in NFTs and DeFi at some point. But I think the level of fraud, manipulation and general pain inflicted on market participants in 2018 and more so in 2022 across non-Bitcoin assets was very damaging.
