@ajlamesa BART had nice seats and carpet until 2007, I think. I used to ride it daily in 04-05 and it was still decent. They did a good job keeping it clean. Some of the riders? Different story….

Perhaps hard to believe, but all of the Great Society subway systems (WMATA, BART, and MARTA) originally had carpeted trains.

Also, the same reddit wants more housing built but then complains about the new housing that is being built. Complaining about the prices, about the style, about the parking, etc. There are so many barriers here to building new buildings that it's no wonder not much is happening.

Our local Reddit is complaining about higher prices at local restaurants, and that some old places are now closing down due to the higher costs, especially labor. The very same higher costs that the same Redditors told us was necessary and wouldn't cause job losses. Also, rents have gone higher as well. That new minimum wage buying power went right into the hands of landlords. Just like we told them it would. Imagine that.

Like I said earlier. It's quite likely that all that new spending power went right into housing costs.

@aaronp613 I remember standing in line at the Southlake, TX store. It was a lot of fun. There was free coffee & snacks, and people were just enjoying the gorgeous weather. I got the iPad + cellular, and ended up keeping that unlimited plan for many years.
