We never needed blackboard or canva. And we could just stop using them and everything would be fine.

@Prolife_Sam @AllHail_India We actually perform a little better or around the same as other wealthy nations, the data is measured far more inclusively in the US than elsewhere, which makes our numbers look bad.

This time of year I get bombarded with ads for AI cheating software targeted at students. It feels odd to have extremely powerful companies directly attempting to thwart the goals of my classroom.

LLMs have yet to produce anything beautiful in prose. I often have students in my first year writing courses who have very little skill or training in writing, but nearly all of them can produce at least a few beautiful sentences.

I try to be retrained in this take, but it is remarkable how the vicious, immoral soul, connected to the world-spirit, totalizing machine, regularly produces pagan, blasphemous imagery. AI is often described as a mirror, it is better seen as an idolatrous accelerant.

We should do a quick check to make sure we didn’t lose a DIFFERENT civilization yesterday. Anyone heard from France recently?

@suzania My favorite group to consider is the resurrected saints who (by my reading) seem to be waiting in their tombs for Christ to rise again. The wonder of Christ resurrected them “too early” and in a divine conspiracy of pageantry, they eagerly wait in their tombs.

The angels know it. The demons know it. The dead who are about to be restored to life know it. That knowledge is borne in the earth; the whole planet knows it. The only people who don't know it are his disciples and the rest of that tiny minority of beings

I love Holy Saturday intensely. It's the sense that, OK, Jesus has already won. It is finished. He's escorted the Thief on the Cross to paradise. He's in Hades, he's broken down the doors. He's announcing their release to the captives, to Adam and Eve and all of them.

There is a massive problem with bad writing. It’s in academia, management, Silicon Valley, entrepreneurialism, and other domains. AI accelerates this problem because it writes in the way a first year college student imagines they should write in academic jargon.

@WeauBilliams —But there’s a tree, of many, one, A single field which I have look’d upon, Both of them speak of something that is gone:               The pansy at my feet               Doth the same tale repeat: Whither is fled the visionary gleam? Where is it now, the glory and the dream?

Back in the day Twitter had real people with opinions like this. But now that you can make money with bad opinions it’s just people like this sleazing for money. I want to see someone being like this for the love of it.

How do people in the suburbs genuinely look forward to Friday night on the couch, Saturday morning at Costco, and call that a weekend? Like you really moved out of the city just to LARP as your parents at 34?
