Hey, @elonmusk, we have a Tesla Model X but we can’t really fit both parents and five kids, and the new SUV only has six seats. On behalf of those who are doing our best to repopulate the West, any chance Tesla can make a minivan or SUV with 7 or 8 seats?

Both people should be willing to happily give 100% to each other. Drop the bitterness towards the father of your children over the fact that he doesn’t have the ability to be pregnant or nurse.

She attempted to pass off the sale of her child as a surrogate pregnancy because they are functionally indistinguishable. So answer me, why is what she did illegal? WHY? Is it because she is both the genetic mother and the birth mother? Because some surrogates are too. And even when she’s not, it just means the child is being sold by two different women—their genetic mother and their birth mother. Is it because she didn’t have a formal contract? That piece of paper exacerbates, not assuages, a child’s identity struggles and mother loss. Is it because the arrangement was made after the child was born and not before conception? Because I guarantee the timing of the exchange will not lower the child’s risk factors. You cannot support commercial #surrogacy and oppose #childtrafficking. Either selling newborns is illegal in all cases or no cases.

There are generations of women who desperately need these lies to be true… Because if they aren’t, the reality they must face will be too much for them to bear. Those whose lives most depend on the lie will always be the greatest enemy of truth.

This child has no idea he is dancing at his family’s funeral. ICYMI this isn’t a sweet anniversary post or pregnancy announcement. It is how Frankie Muniz and his wife decided to announce their divorce, the death of their family. All their son sees is the two people he loves most in the world dancing and loving each other. He runs into the middle of it because that’s where he belongs. He is literally and biologically between them. A fusion of them and in the midst of that triad he finds the safety and stability that all of human history has proved to be the safest and happiest place he could ever be. And yet, here he is being used as a PR tool for an internet video, naively celebrating the adult decisions that will bring him so much pain. His parents released a statement saying: “After 10 beautiful years together, we've grown in ways that made us realize our relationship feels most natural and strong as a deep friendship and as co-parents. We share an incredible son who remains the center of our world… We’re closing one chapter with gratitude and opening the next with bright futures ahead, for us as individuals and especially for our son.” But anyone who has experienced divorce can spot the two lies right away: 1. Families don’t have “chapters”. They can only be created or destroyed. 2. It is impossible for their son to be at the “center” of THEIR world any longer. The only way for a child to truly be the center of his parents' world is for all of them to live in the same one. Divorce separates a child's world into pieces, sometimes two, sometimes more. I know because I've lived in them. There is dad's family, there is mom's family, there is the shared third space the siblings carve out between the two, and then there is the lonely fourth space a child occupies by himself when none of the others quite fit. You may be important in every one of those worlds, but the existence of them all makes you the center of none. There is no way for two people to divorce without requiring their child to make sacrifices on behalf of adults. There is no way to create separate worlds without destroying theirs. You may say he is the priority, but your decisions still hand him the bill. Need proof? A recent NBER paper stated that divorce increased a child's risk of teen birth by roughly 60 percent, his risk of incarceration by nearly 40 percent, and his risk of early death by roughly 45 percent, while cutting his adult earnings by 9 to 13 percent and lowering his odds of attending college. If they were honest about this. No one would be dancing. Divorce is sometimes necessary. It is never a celebration. And it is always a tragedy… especially for the kids.

A child should never be your golden ticket to citizenship but that’s exactly what surrogacy makes possible. Grateful to Lt. Gov @DanPatrick for calling this hearing. @ThemBeforeUs is proud to partner with @protect_txchild to defend kids from being bought and sold like property.
