🚨 If IP 28 passes, traditional Oregon rodeos are DONE. The PEACE Act (Initiative Petition 28) specifically strips out the exemption that currently protects “animals involved in rodeos or similar exhibitions” from Oregon’s animal cruelty laws. That means the heart of rodeo calf roping, team roping, steer wrestling, saddle bronc, bareback, and bull riding events built on physical contact, restraint, and the athletic demands placed on livestock, would now be judged under laws against “knowingly causing physical injury to an animal.” Even the Yes on IP28 campaign admits on their own site: “IP28 does not necessarily ban Rodeos, only the intentional injury… of animals that are being used in Rodeos currently. This means that Rodeos can continue, provided that they adjust their practices…” “Adjust their practices”? Real rodeo doesn’t gut its identity to survive. Water it down until it’s unrecognizable, and it’s not rodeo anymore. Stock contractors, rodeo committees, contestants, and the families who have poured generations into this way of life would face constant legal risk, impossible insurance, and eventual shutdown. Our rodeos aren’t just entertainment. They’re the living heartbeat of our western way of life multi-generational family traditions, 4H and FFA kids learning grit and responsibility with livestock, small-town economies firing up, and communities gathering to celebrate the bond between cowboy and animal. IP 28 is an all-out attack on that heritage. We have to protect our rodeo family and our western way of life. This isn’t compassion. It’s cultural erasure dressed up as “progress.” Oregonians, vote NO on IP28 this November. Tag every rodeo family, stock contractor, rancher, and rural Oregonian you know. Share this. Bipartisan Bill Would Finally Let Military Sexual Trauma Survivors Sue the Government Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and John Kennedy (R-LA) have introduced the Military Sexual Trauma Accountability Act, a bipartisan bill that would create a narrow exception to the Feres doctrine the 76-year-old rule that has blocked active-duty service members from suing the government for injuries tied to their service. If passed, survivors could file civil lawsuits when military negligence contributed to sexual assault, harassment, or the distribution of intimate images, including failures to prevent or properly investigate the abuse. This bill is needed because the current system has repeatedly failed survivors. Internal military processes have too often minimized reports, protected careers, and left victims with no real path to accountability. Without the ability to sue in civil court, there is little external pressure on the institution to change how it handles these cases. For years, many survivors have described a system where rank was weaponized against them. Reports were swept under the rug, investigations were slow or incomplete, and in far too many cases, the abuser was allowed to stay in or return to a position of leadership over the very people they harmed. Victims were left trapped, forced to continue serving under the same chain of command that failed to protect them, often facing retaliation for speaking out. The Military Sexual Trauma Accountability Act would finally give survivors an avenue for justice outside a system that has long protected itself over its people. While the bill has a long road ahead, its introduction marks a significant step toward real accountability.

The meter showed TVOC levels over 6 mg/m³, which is well into the serious/red zone. For context: Health Canada recommends keeping indoor TVOC levels below 0.4 mg/m³. In the U.S., levels above 0.5 mg/m³ are generally considered high for indoor air quality. Even when he tested the toys outside of the sealed bag in regular room air, the readings still climbed past 1.7 mg/m³ and continued rising, staying well above recommended safe levels. These toys are marketed for kids ages 3 and up, and kids are often putting them near their faces or even in their mouths. The dad also showed that the levels were significantly higher than a can of paint. Would you let your kids play with these, or does this make you rethink viral toys like this?
