New data shows 76% of voucher applicants were not in public schools. This is exactly why we opposed the voucher program. It was never really about helping kids with special needs or low-income families. It’s a coupon for the wealthy. Now $1 billion in taxpayer dollars will go to private entities that aren’t held to the same standards while doing virtually nothing for the 5.5 million kids who rely on our neighborhood schools. #txlege

Abbott lie #3 - He called for the elimination of the STAAR Test. Then he encouraged and passed legislation that tripled the number of STAAR tests given in a single year. How many parents asked for more testing? Answer - None!

Abbott lie #1 - "We have to have school vouchers because kids are trapped in failing schools." The numbers have been released, and it turns out that less than 1% are leaving public schools. Ooh, that's got to sting!
