@lexfridman 1. Do you get up early? When do you go to sleep? 2. Do you procrastinate from time to time? 3. How do you structure your day?

I'm going to play Starfield (the new epic space RPG) this weekend & use the opportunity to record an AMA while I play, so if you have any questions/topics for me to discuss, please post them here. Not just related to game, anything goes.

ситуация: вы жалуетесь своему преподу, что он вас никогда не благодарит за сданную лабу. ответ: "а за что вас благодарить? это ведь учебный процесс, вы за это зачет получите" на какой день после такого диалога вы отчислитесь?

@kjr247 The most common misuse I see is the rigid application of things that were meant to be gentle advice. Yes, we should remove duplication, but not all duplication should be removed. Yes, we should follow TDD; but there are times when TDD breaks down. Etc.

@RonJeffries @Sc_Meerkat @gdinwiddie Why not to dream a little? ;) But I predict that there will be a phase transition “before-after” and it could be very fast - in a decade since it begins no programmers of old school are necessary anymore. Like drivers will be pushed off with ai-driven cars.

@KentBeck TDD is one of the very subjective things that you don't understand its benefits without practicing it for some time. It took me 4* month of constant practice to understand how TDD had improved my programming process. * 4 months, 3 of which I spent learning it

Bullseye*, Mr. Jeffries. If you decide not to learn TDD, that's fine. Plenty of folks don't. But then your opinion of TDD isn't informed by direct experience. Also fine. But limiting. * No bulls were harmed in the tweeting of this tweet.

@Grady_Booch Programming will not be dead in 10 years. Programming, and related tasks, will likely be the single largest labor force on the planet in 20 years. Machine learning will not replace programmers. Not even close. We have to stop acting like Moore’s law is still in effect.

@mariofusco @unclebobmartin Feels like you have specific cases on your mind. Note that it is not stated which kind of function it is, hence we consider it as arbitrary. According to the discussed statement, here are "ideal" cases: getID(), calculateSum(), randomInt() etc ...

@unclebobmartin I understand the point for one-arg or in general for as few args as possible. However zero-args implies side-effects and mutability and then a code smell. Bad even under a pedagogical point of view.

Can anybody explain @unclebobmartin's sentence saying that "The ideal numbers of arguments for a function is zero (niladic)"? In other words, according to him the perfect function is the one that either does nothing or just produces side-effects? 🤔

If you decide the world’s problems are too big for you to worry about, and stop thinking about them, your own little problems will grow in your imagination until they’re as big as the ones you decided to ignore. Anxiety finds its level.
