@mzs114 @joaompinto4 @geerlingguy Perfect example of this is pfSense. They profit greatly from FreeBSD but they don’t have to provide those modifications. Further, they’re going from open source to actual closed source.

@joaompinto4 @geerlingguy Huh? GPL is what is forcing them to comply, permissive licenses can be further misused as the user/contributor is not obligated to release changes/improvement source code.

I think a lot of the clash of open source philosophy between my own experience and people in the Red Hat realm comes from my introduction to open source in the #Drupal community. Drupal is also "encumbered" by the GPLv2 license, just as the Linux kernel is. A thread 🧵
