WE DID IT!!! We have officially surpassed the required number of verified candidate petitions required to qualify for the ballot! I am also so PROUD to say that although we were able to collect petitions from throughout the state to qualify (and we did) 92% of our verified petitions came from the 4 counties that make up FL-11. This shows that not only does our campaign have grassroots support from the people, it actually comes from the people of this district. Even better? Over 25% of the collected petitions came from voters who are NOT REGISTERED DEMOCRATS. People are fed up with the status quo and know that I am committed to working for all of us and doing what is best for our country and not just my party. This is one huge hurdle we’ve crossed but we are still only at the beginning of the fight. Stay with us!

I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen. A trailblazer and proud Haitian American, she made history and dedicated her life to public service. Her leadership and commitment to her community left a lasting impact and will not be forgotten. My prayers are with her family and the Coral Springs community. We must honor her legacy by continuing the fight for justice, safety, and equity.

It’s hard to put in words our feelings and how the world changed in the last 24 hours… Days of dreaming, joy and excitement crushed by a 4pm call yesterday when a selfish and horrific act of hate and violence took the life of an individual who lived with the deepest embodiment of public service. Nancy Metayer’s life was stolen and headlines that were supposed to come today are now enveloped with tragedy and a life taken too soon. Heartache and grief have touched many, and for me, anger that one individual can literally take the life of a woman who was seeking to do more good, touch more lives and lead a charge of brining a community together. An unstoppable force doesn’t speak justice to who Nancy Metayer was and the legacy she leaves behind. Deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Coral Springs Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen. She was a tireless advocate, a dedicated progressive leader, and a powerful voice for her community. Her commitment to public service and her passion for lifting others up left a lasting impact on Coral Springs and beyond. This is a truly heartbreaking loss, and she will be remembered for the compassion, strength, and purpose she brought to everything she did. Black women are often the targets of gun violence.

I’m overcome by the devastating loss of Vice Mayor @NMetayerBowen. Nancy was a visionary and motivated young leader whose focus, drive and determination were unmatched. She had so much promise and I was so fortunate to have known and mentored her. My deepest condolences go out to her parents and family, to the Coral Springs community and her beloved Haitian American community who loved her back. May her memory be for the blessing that she was to so many.

I’m shocked. I’m hurt. I’m devastated. Nancy had a pure heart and was a good person. Florida lost a true leader today, and so many of us lost a friend. May her memory continue to be a blessing.

I just can’t. If you knew Nancy, you knew that she was in it to help people and to help her community. Heartbroken doesn’t explain what I’m feeling. I’m going to miss her so much.

Just horrible news about Coral Springs Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen. She was a rising star in Democrat politics. Was told she made phone calls this week seeking support for a run for CD 20. Life is too short. Rest in peace

Nancy and I worked side by side in the reproductive rights movement for years, and I’ve been honored to call her not just a colleague, but a dear friend. She was brilliant, compassionate, and deeply committed to justice. I’m heartbroken by this loss.
