@Hankasauruss That's all the same, JD decided to make one tractor and give it engine options
English

@philip_buhler Yup mine was a low flow also, bought a parted out Gen engine to fix that, had to install a variable speed gov aka “constant power” gov. Onto the truck pt pump
English

@PDevloo We useded the 855 fan drive fr9m the hiway truck it came out of. So far been running cool enough. This 855 came with the low flow rad system but to make work with the 8870 rad we swapped the system to the highflow system. Wasn't easy but now it's cooling well. Still fuel issues
English

@cartersproat @DirtOnMyBoots The electronic engines would worke in all applications
English

@PDevloo @DirtOnMyBoots Do you know if things would have to be changed if it were an electronic injection like N14 or Series 60? Always wondered if the series 60s in agcostar 4wds were any different than a truck engine
English

@PDevloo We dropped a 450hp 855 this spring into our 8870. took some work but working alright. Used the 8870 rad and mounts just modified the mounts. Had to raise hood to fit the rad cause of raising it to line up with fan.

English

@YoJimBo1756692 Ya the 7.6JD wasn’t a bad engine, used in most 9600 combines, just gets severely abused in the 4wd tractor
English

@cartersproat @DirtOnMyBoots You’re absolutely correct, Cypress colony has a couple PT pumps from dozers with 855cummins they’re parting. Bills Diesel in Winnipeg added that Variable speed gov to the truck pump
English

@PDevloo @DirtOnMyBoots Someone told me trucks have a different governor in the injection pump compared to an ag application for an 855, anyone heard of this?
English

@jcalder1983 @brian_butler80 Have to agree, I think the early 60 series were best, no emissions at all. I think the 70 series mostly all had integrated autotrac which gave them the ‘best combine” title.

English

@brian_butler80 9760. In 125 hrs this year we changed the tensioner bolt for the belt that drives the feederhouse.
We do use the s680 more tho.

English

@HorseShoeHillby @Grainline1 Want to see how u did the exhaust and intake pipes
English

@PDevloo @Grainline1 I can get pics of whatever you need. I bought a wrecker motor from an 8960 that had the mounts and a lords coupler on it. Yes the driveshaft was shortened to fit. Send me a list of pictures you'd like and I'll get them for you tomorrow.
English

@DieselOrDeath Ya, depends how u use it, I have 2 of these, the other one is in much better shape, I pull a 36ft seed hawk and grain cart, fine tractor for that. Pulled an 18ft Salford rts this spring and 8mph it was maxed out. Made me realize how weak the 7.6 is, basically can’t do tillage
English

@PDevloo Really surprised that such a big machine had an engine that size. I bet that swap woke it right up.
English

@DirtOnMyBoots That was another engine I’d consider but not as avaliable, got this one from an L9000 ford truck, sold the chassis, basically got the engine for free

English

@PDevloo Swapped a 8.1 liter Deere into an 8570 then chipped it to put out 320 on the PTO.
English

@allis_farmer170 That’s correct, Gratton Collee Salvage has 89’s they’re parting out, shortened the driveshaft 4” thru Westrans and made the front engine mount. You’ll also need the flywheel from the 89, dampener is the same as the 85
English

@PDevloo What I’m doing to our 87 when It craps the bed… are the motor mounts the same or did u get them off an 89??
English

@ren_withrow I’m sure it’ll use more fuel but maybe not? 855’s were & are all around a great engine for tractors
English

@PDevloo I bet it sounds great and a big power boost. Wonder how the fuel consump will be.
English

@HorseShoeHillby @Grainline1 Do u have pictures, curious how u got it to work? I found a rear engine mount from an 8960, that was a critical piece, also shortened the drive shaft 4”
English

@PDevloo @Grainline1 Cooling will be a bit of an issue. The 8870 Jay is talking about is mine, it pulls a 53’ 1820 drill with an old 230bu tank mostly. On warm days 20°C + it will get hot on hilly ground. It pulls a 41’ cultivator and a 26lemken early spring late fall with few issues.
English

@HorseShoeHillby @Grainline1 I removed the air to air also in hopes it’ll flow more air, I plan to put a large plastic fan on it also
English

@Grainline1 I have yet to put this in the field, did the engine stay cool with the 8870 rad and fan?
English

@PDevloo It’s a simple swap did a 8870 to Cummins a few years ago.
English

@BDuchek Yup, the 7.6 was done in it, tractor has 10000hrs, I want more power, enjoy a challenge
