Excited to share our preprint, the work I’ve done in Golshani lab @pgolshani. Using UCLA Miniscope, I explored NAc neural representation of social interaction and identified representational deficit in Cntnap2 KO mice. More exciting results are coming! Stay tuned.

We are thrilled to share a new study from the lab on the neural mechanism of helping behavior. Humans and animals exhibit helping behavior toward others in need. In this study, we report an intriguing form of helping behavior that an individual exhibits toward others experiencing pain, and uncover the role of the anterior cingulate cortex in encoding and controlling this behavior. @Nature nature.com/articles/s4158…

Not feel comfortable to let strangers enter my apt when I'm not home. We scheduled inspection by @LADBS_ and shifted my entire work to previous weekend. After waiting for hours, they said they would not come. Not just once. Not everyone is as free as you guys. Shame on @LADBS_ !

So excited about our new preprint by Pingping Zhao and colleagues on cell-type specific and long-term stability of social representations in the nucleus accumbens and prefrontal cortex! Using miniaturized microscopy and we discover destabilized activity in an autism model.

@PingpingION Did you get your $ back? I once had to file a retroactive amendment to my referral once I had some tests done at UCLA and not the UCLA student center. I know of others in our department who were told after the fact that they had unwittingly never been enrolled in health insurance

I’ll never forget the sense of fear I had when I went to get a flu shot at CVS and they told me my health insurance had been terminated. Turns out the same UCLA Dept forgot to pay my graduate tuition fees. Very glad I didn’t find out an expensive ER visit or worse.

@karina_keus Fortunately, yes. I did enrollment. HR said that was something wrong at UCPath. As I understood, UCPath said there was some wrong at HealthNet. 🤷🏻‍♀️

However the most telling part of this whole saga is that when I told the administration that I needed to be paid to have a bed to sleep on, it was suggested that I get a loan through UCLA - because of course the answer is to dive deeper into UCLA financials

@karina_keus I went to ER back in March and got two bills, $1490+$565. I found out that I didn't have insurance! Can I sue the department? They finally fixed it. But it's really painful to work with them, contract, insurance, salary, visa, I have to send angry email every time.

I'm in US and mom is in surgery in Shanghai. It's impossible to go back immediately. I wish I had a sibling. At this moment, I think those who proposed stupid single child policy in China should be sentenced to death.
