I'll add that this accounting comes strictly from aggregate boxscore stats as an estimate that is pretty good. In the book, play-by-play does it more precisely.

One thing that Basketball Beyond Paper does is extend the Four Factors to do the accounting of how much each factor impacts the scoring margin. This example is last night's Memphis win v Indiana. Grizz cost themselves ~8 pts in shooting, but made it up other ways.

I am big fan of French "espoirs," league, I always jokingly point out "Those empty gyms in France," which refer to espoirs league. Player can ride the bench, practice vs. grown men, but then get game reps, high usage, vs. peers their age. Kind of best of both worlds

Very interesting article, from a Spanish perspective, wondering if France's basketball system should be copied in Spain France has state-run programme for its top players (INSEP), and also has "espoirs," a U21 league that gives players a lot of opportunities to develop.
