ASCE has honored Michael O. Falk, (BSCE 1983), with the 2025 Surveying and Mapping Award for significant contributions to the advancement of the ASCE Geomatics Division. 👏

We are excited to announce that Ayman Habib, the Thomas A. Page Professor of Civil Engineering will serve as the interim head of the Lyles School of CCE, effective Dec. 15. Prof. Rao Govindaraju will continue to serve as the head until that time and to help with the transition.

Today, #Purdue CCE celebrated the legendary career of Professor Kumares Sinha. In addition to his countless contributions to engineering research and the world at large, Prof. Sinha was known as an incredible educator, mentor, and friend. We wish him the very best!





Purdue Civil Engineering alumnus Dr. Chris Burke (BSCE '77, MSCE '79, PhD '83, HDR 2010) has been honored with the prestigious 2025 President's Medal by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

🗓️ Sept. 8 (2023) Robert L. ‘Bob’ Bowen (BSCE ’62, HDR ’07): Founder of company that has built 700-plus water treatment plants in America On this date in 2023, upon his retirement, Bowen Engineering released a YouTube video celebrating the remarkable career of Robert L. “Bob” Bowen (BSCE ’62, HDR ’07). After graduating, Bowen honed his skills as a project manager at W.M. Lyles Co. in Fresno, Calif., until 1967, when he returned to Indiana to establish the Bowen Engineering Company. For the next 42 years, Bowen served as CEO of his company, specializing in both traditional and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects in the water/wastewater, energy and industrial sectors. He continues as chairman. Employing more than 300 professionals, Bowen Engineering has built 700+ water treatment plants in the United States. The company maintains a strong connection with #Purdue, consistently hiring its engineers and supporting the university’s initiatives. Bowen’s dedication to Purdue has extended beyond his professional endeavors, encompassing organizing an annual bike ride from Indianapolis to West Lafayette for Boilermaker home football games for more than two decades, as well as teaching classes as the Donn E. Hancher Distinguished Fellow in the Lyles School of Civil and Construction Engineering. Bowen has received numerous accolades, including the American Society of Civil Engineers’ [@ASCETweets] Mark Benjamin Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018, induction into the Indiana Public Schools Hall of Fame in 2009 and the Indiana Heartland Entrepreneur of the Year Award from Ernst & Young [@EY_US] in 1998. Purdue presented Bowen with an Outstanding Civil Engineer Award in 1995 and a Distinguished Engineering Alumnus Award in 1999. Today, Bowen’s name remains prominent at Purdue through the Robert L. and Terry L. Bowen Laboratory for Large-Scale Civil Engineering Research and scholarships awarded to students in his honor.
