I’m an influencer.” The waiter pauses, thinking she’s joking, but she doubles down; “I’m not like a normal person, I don’t pay for meals.” The waiter calmly replies, “That’s not how it works here, you still need to pay.” There’s a difference between real brand partnerships and entitlement. Promotion only works when both sides agree to it beforehand; not as a surprise at the end of a meal. Expecting free service just because of a title undermines the value of everyone else’s work.
