Easiest solution the NBA can make to please everyone with the 65-game rule: Make All-NBA Third Team for everyone with no restrictions. There is NO reason Cade Cunningham and Anthony Edwards should miss out on the honors and potential money because of this.

Historically, Hikaru Nakamura has made numerous public accusations against other players without consistently providing strong evidence or facing meaningful accountability. Now that stricter anti-cheating measures are being implemented, he appears to object to them. If he genuinely believes that over-the-board cheating is so difficult, it raises questions about why he made such serious allegations during events like the Sinquefield Cup.
Endgame AI@EndgameaiChess

🇺🇸 Hikaru Nakamura criticizes anti-cheating measures at the Candidates. Speaking live on Kick with Jon Ludvig Hammer and Fiona Steil-Antoni, Nakamura called the security protocols “nonsense,” arguing they’ve gone too far. Players are scanned before and after games, with strict controls and multiple checks in place. “At some point you have to ask… who are we? Mossad agents in Iran or what? We’re just chess players.” He added that he hasn’t raised it with FIDE, saying he doesn’t see the point, and believes concerns about cheating at such a tightly controlled event are being exaggerated.

@ameliapond1969 @HansMahncke No, the Supreme Court interprets laws as the Congress intended, at the time the law was passed. This is all statutory interpretation 101. Laws should absolutely reflect the times. But that's the legislature's job, not the courts'.

@Red_Aznabel @HansMahncke Well, the Supreme Court interprets the laws that Congress makes, to reflect current reality. Yes, in this country that’s exactly how checks and balances work.

The whole 14th Amendment debate reminded me of one of my most enduring memories. On my very first day of law school, the dean gave a speech to the entire class. It was the first and only time I ever saw the guy, yet I can recall it as if it were yesterday. The entire speech was about one point: law is language. Everything is language. He said that if you wanted to do justice and fairness, you would have to study philosophy or something else. It was a bit of a reality check. When you come in thinking law is about truth and rights, and suddenly you are told you are here for an advanced language course. Over time, I came to understand what he meant, and he was right, or at least that is how it should be. That, in many ways, is what the 14th Amendment debate is. It is not humanities, and it is not about social ideals. It is a matter of language. It should not be about Justice Jackson’s hallucinations about Japan or Justice Sotomayor’s personal conceptions of fairness. It should be about the words that are written, and only that.

@HansMahncke I guess you forgot this quote: “The case before us must be considered in the light of our whole experience and not merely in that of what was said a hundred years ago.” -Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. The law has to function in reality, not as frozen in time interpretations.

Why are they hiring lawyers, judges and aerospace engineers to be NFL officials? There are a LOT of capable people for whom $350k would be an AWESOME full-time salary. Why has the NFL targeted a small subset of people for whom that's not true?
Ross Tucker Podcast@RossTuckerPod

"From the referee's point of view, why would they be full time if the pay does not equal what they make now, between NFL a plus their full time job?" "These are lawyers. They're judges. They work in aerospace... They don't want to be full time unless unless the NFL pays them similar to the NBA refs and the Major League Baseball refs and the NHL refs, which they don't." @AndrewBrandt breaks down the negotiations between the NFL & Referees, on the latest episode of the Business of Sports:

@HansMahncke No. It’s this thing called politics. Ukraine in Euro back yard. Russia attacked. in their interest to stop that. Iran not in their back yard and were attacked by US and Israel, with no good reasons given. The calculus is simple.

Nothing exposes the sheer stupidity and total lack of strategic thinking among Western elites more than their total disconnect between Ukraine and Iran. In Ukraine, they cheer endlessly and pour in weapons as if it could never be enough. In Iran, they refuse to confront the mullahs. If this were principled pacifism, at least it would make sense. But it isn’t. They are all in on fueling a centuries-old blood feud, while being totally against stopping seventh-century religious fanatics from acquiring nuclear weapons. It’s total incoherence dressed up as virtue, like a real-life emperor without clothes moment.

@BlackProudGreen @SportsWithJay0 He was the weakest link in that starting 5 (not counting KP) but that doesn't mean he played poorly or that he was targeted. It's a tribute to his teammates. Obviously, Luka targets the center, not the wing of the same size.

@Red_Aznabel @SportsWithJay0 How jb the weakest link but played the 2nd most mins and was scored on the least by a gap of 12 pts. Al horford who was the closest guy giving up 67 pts. Most of jb blocks and half his steals were off ball. I think you may need to rewarch that finals

@TGTatum4_3 The Celtics are 8-1 without Jaylen Brown. They lost that one game by like 1 point. They have an average margin of victory of like +20 in those 9 games.

@BlackProudGreen @SportsWithJay0 Jaylen was mostly screened out at the first opportunity. Limiting Luka was mostly due to the Celtics having one of the best defenses in living memory, of which Jaylen Brown was the weakest link.

@BlackProudGreen @SportsWithJay0 I rewatched the entire finals and posted a video of every shot defended by Jaylen. If nba's official tracking disagrees it's because their definition doesn't match a normal viewer's intuitive definition, probably includes shots that no sane person would say is defended by JB.

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson: How does this work? Are you suggesting when a baby is born people have to present documents? How are we determining a newborn child is a citizen of the US under your rule? Are we bringing pregnant women into depositions?
