The Iranians forcing the U.S. to pressure Israel to agree to a ceasefire on Lebanon isn’t sitting well with the Israelis. To make Netanyahu feel better and to manage the optics to make this appear like a U.S.-Israeli win, we might see the Lebanese government perform yet another undignified theatrical act that humiliates them and undermines their people.

Lebanese Speaker Nabih berri: “They went to Washington to bring back a ceasefire, and returned instead to wage a war on Hezbollah.” Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri is making no effort to hide his anger and frustration over the decision by the President and the Prime Minister to embark on a path of direct negotiations with the Israeli enemy. In meetings with visitors, he has repeatedly voiced his categorical rejection of any form of direct talks with Israel, stressing that the priority must remain a ceasefire, the preservation of civil peace, and the prevention of any slide into internal strife. He notes that this position is not new. He has stated it repeatedly, most recently in the statement issued a few days ago by the leadership of the Amal Movement, and again in the statement released by the movement’s executive body the day before yesterday. Commenting on the statement issued after the meeting between the Lebanese ambassador and the ambassador of the enemy entity in Washington, Berri told Al Akhbar that he was astonished by the course taken by Lebanese officials, saying: “They went to the United States to secure a ceasefire, and came back to fight Hezbollah.” He warned that abandoning participation in a negotiating process embedded within a broader regional track, and shifting instead toward isolated negotiations without any real cards of strength, weakens Lebanon’s position rather than reinforcing it. Berri also recalled that, before the announcement of the truce between Iran and the United States, he had received confirmation from Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi that Tehran would not accept any ceasefire that did not include Lebanon. He added: “After the confusion that took place in Beirut over this track, it was decided to move through other channels.” Via @AlakhbarNews

🇺🇸🇮🇱🇱🇧 BREAKING: Trump says he's brokering direct talks between the leaders of Israel and Lebanon tomorrow, the first conversation between them in 34 years. "Trying to get a little breathing room between Israel and Lebanon. Nice!" If this actually happens, it's historic. Israel and Lebanon have technically been at war since 1948. No sitting leaders have spoken directly in over three decades. Trump pulling off a direct Netanyahu-Aoun call would be a genuine diplomatic breakthrough.

🇮🇷🇺🇸 Iranian sources paint a darker picture of the negotiations than what's being reported... Tehran says talks are "progressing" but the atmosphere is "far less positive" than U.S. and Pakistani media suggest. The gaps go beyond Hormuz and the nuclear file. Multiple issues remain wide open and the distrust toward Washington is described as "extreme." This matters because the optimistic framing coming from Washington and Islamabad sets expectations that may not match reality. Trump saying the war is "very close to over" while Iranian negotiators describe unbridgeable gaps on multiple fronts creates a dangerous mismatch. The distrust is earned. Iran negotiated a nuclear deal in 2015. The U.S. pulled out. Iran entered talks in 2025. The U.S. bombed them. They came to Islamabad in good faith. The U.S. launched a naval blockade while the ceasefire was still in effect. From Tehran's perspective, every American handshake has been followed by a fist. Source: @Spectator_MENA

@MarioNawfal This will be a great success if it happens. Let both leaders find resolutions rather than condemnation. It is rather not late to make peace, than not to make peace at all. God bless you President Donald Trump

BreakingNews: Donald Trump announced that the Lebanon–Israel meeting has been set for today. Why now? The reason is simple: Netanyahu does not want the war with Hezbollah to stop, but Iran reportedly refused any second round of talks without a ceasefire in Lebanon. So rather than let Tehran claim it forced that condition, Trump is staging a Lebanon–Israel meeting to dress up the ceasefire as an American diplomatic initiative. netanyahu is furious.

I'm well aware of how hated we are in the region by the average person, but better a cold peace than killing each other. Egypt and Jordan are not poor because of peace agreements, but rather for other reasons. Israel is not stopping them from developing their economies. The UAE has peace with Israel and it is prosperous.

@lebanesesami @961iceberg Israel is not killing children for a living, what a stupid thing to say. They do protect their children, at any cost - as they should btw. Once the Arabs will start loving their children more than they hate the Jews, all will be well.
