You cannot bomb your way to trust, nor can you shoot your way to lasting safety. The history of the Middle East has reminded us of this truth time and again. Every new act of violence deepens wounds, fuels resentment, and sows the seeds of conflict for years to come. If we seek a future free of fear and mourning, we must first stop feeding the flames of hate and violence. The path forward, our only path forward, is the hard, courageous choice to build peace. #ChoosePeace

We haven't been able to bring any supplies into Gaza, Palestine, since 1 January 2026, because Israeli authorities are blocking aid. Read from our medical adviser in Gaza about how this is affecting operations in our hospitals and clinics: msf.org/gaza-israeli-e…

For years Ed Miliband has peddled the myth that North Sea gas is all ‘sold abroad’. This is RUBBISH. All of it is used here and it’s about half of our supply. Without it we’ll import more dirtier gas from abroad. Where’s the sense in that?

@john4brexit John needs to grow a backbone for the future generations that will suffer massively from the insane pursuit of extracting and burning more fossil fuels.

Miliband expected to block North Sea oil drilling-Keir Starmer needs to grow a backbone, overrule Ed Miliband and open up both Jackdaw and Rosebank immediately. It is mad that we are not exploiting our own resources in the middle of an energy crisis.” telegraph.co.uk/politics/2026/…

Probably because nobody is suggesting we’re going to use any more oil/gas than we’re already using. It’ll just be our own with far less transport, far more jobs, far more tax. The no brainer of all no brainers.
Caroline Lucas@CarolineLucas

Did @BBCr4today really just do a whole package about drilling in the N Sea without once even mentioning #climate change? And not having anyone challenging the one-sided claims of former BP boss? So irresponsible #bbcr4today

It’s mind blowing that clueless people like her believe this nonsense The oil and gas in the ground and below the sea bed is owned by the Crown Oil companies buy licences to extract it, and pay 75% tax on the profits
Zoe Gardner@ZoeJardiniere

It is blowing my mind how many people don’t seem able to grasp that oil & gas in the North Sea is not “ours” but was sold off to private companies who will trade it on the international market like any other fuel. We don’t get any kind of privileged access to this fuel.

@clim8resistance Gasoline is over $4 a gallon, Ben. And the oil and gas shockwaves have barely reached the U.S. yet. What does Ben know about anything?

What does Zack know about energy economics? What does Zack know about energy? And what does Zack know about economics? Using our own energy resources makes us independent by definition. There has been no natural gas price shock in the USA. We need to increase production.
Zack Polanski@ZackPolanski

Drilling for more oil & gas in the North Sea won't lower bills, it won't make us more energy independent and it won't insulate us from price shocks. A Labour backslide on this would be a huge betrayal. Double down on renewables. Insulate every home. Lower bills, permanently.

We can't afford Ed Miliband. The energy crisis is existential & the mistakes made are unforgiveable. We're not sitting pretty, despite billions being thrown at renewables. They blew up power stations whilst tilting at windmills & applauding Greta Thunberg in Westminster.

Notice how quickly all that bullshit about liberating Iranians disappeared, and now it's all about bombing them back to the Stone Age, destroying their bridges and universities, poisoning their air and water, and stealing their oil.

Yet another u-turn after yet another Labour policy collides with reality. Approving the new Jackdaw gasfield is the right decision, so why couldn’t Ed Miliband see that in the first place? This should have been approved months ago to improve our domestic energy security. This type of ideological zealotry simply cannot survive in the face of current world events. We cannot afford to have politicians who hold luxury beliefs. With the Government unwilling to acknowledge the long-term impact of the Iranian missile attack on Ras Laffan in Qatar, and with us significantly reliant upon foreign gas imports, its high time Ed Miliband faced up to the reality of his brief.

8️⃣ A fair transition for the North Sea. The first G7 oil and gas producing country to end new oil, gas and coal licences. Ensuring no community is left behind, with offshore workers leading the world in the industries of the future. Banning fracking for good.
