Another referee has just contacted us who was threatened and then car bricked by a player he sent off in a amateur football match. He could have been killed. What on earth is wrong with people. This guy has a family to go home to! @ScottishFA @ScotAmFA.

@NFFC Perhaps we should just do away with the comms completely and stop this madness altogether?

Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest@NFFC·
Nottingham Forest has today submitted a formal request to the PGMOL to release into the public domain the audio recordings between officials during yesterday’s match against Everton at Goodison Park. The club has requested this be shared for three key match incidents - Ashley Young’s challenge on Giovanni Reyna (24th minute), Ashley Young’s handball (44th minute) and Ashley Young’s challenge on Callum Hudson-Odoi (56th minute). We firmly advocate for the broader football community and supporters to have access to the audio and transcript for full transparency, ensuring the integrity of our sport is upheld.

@Dec__94 Only here to support refs and highlight abuse. We encourage dialogue between everyone in the game - be it differing opinions on challenges or their sanctions.

@PattersonPogo @Dec__94 @refsupportuk Thanks Pogo. We’ve no issue with someone disagreeing with a decision, It seems Dec disagrees and as long as he isn’t abusing refs then we’ve no issue - he is entitled to his opinion. Our opinion - we agree with you, one is a clear red one is a yellow.

@Hurlett Ahhh no accountability. Players disagree with decisions and thinks it’s acceptable to retort to thuggish actions.

@ScotRefSupport Ahhh, no accountability. The referee literally has one job, make sure the rules of the game are adhered to. When that does not happen, shock horror, players will take it too far.

Fixed your tweet Neil. “One thing consistent in football is poor decisions by managers and the damage they can do. Hopefully the managers are working on upping their game, they sure need to!” #football #VAR #referees #premierleague @CardiffCityFC @ChelseaFC

@RoacheDes @refsupportuk @steveconroy458 @GetInvolvedRef That headline is far more critical. I’d be ensuring your words are fairly represented by whichever media outlet you’re aligning with. You in particular should appreciate the impact of negative press can have, let alone it coming from a former grade1. Referees are a unique (1/2)

Stunningly damning. Cannot believe ex-referee’s are prepared to throw their own under the bus like this. One of the most challenging, difficult and isolated roles in football at any level. Refs need the support of their peers more than ever, then you read this. 🙈 @refsupportuk

@Foxiola @GDSMLOfficial In fairness, we never bad mouthed the league. We highlighted it to them, their response was “what do you want us to do about it” & “we don’t even know who he is”. But the rest of your tweet, I 100% agree. The handling of it should be private by the league.

@ScotRefSupport @GDSMLOfficial It’s a comment on social media which is a cesspit full of opinionated anonymous keyboard gangsters.Pretty sure any league will deal with social media posts without you highlighting it and bad mouthing that league. Doubt also if any league will say on twatter how they’ll sanction

Well, the games not even been played yet and here we have someone getting in the mindset already. A beautiful example of the challenges faced at an amateur level in Scotland. Thoughts? @GDSMLOfficial ?

@Foxiola @GDSMLOfficial And probably his team mates when the game actually is being played. Not everything we shine a light on will be agreed by everyone but our DM’s are open for this exact reason, so tweets like that can be shared with us.

@Foxiola @GDSMLOfficial And the less severe. However, the bar of what is acceptable needs to be a lot higher. We need people to think about the commentary around referees and what it leads to. That tweet in isolation isn’t the worst thing we’ve seen, however, it’s a precursor to the tone of the player…
