@jasonpedersen @mo_pedersen1 This is exactly what happened to me in LA marathon. My running past worked against me. I ran way too fast through 20mi, whole body locked up with 3mi to go and any downhill was a nightmare on my quads.

The net downhill course sounds great in theory, but think I would’ve done better on a flatter course. 3:04 gets me under the BQ, but probably not quick enough to actually get in (probably takes closer to sub 3). Shoutout to @mo_pedersen1 and the kids for helping me finish 😊

Doing my first 26.2 tomorrow. I’ve averaged just above 20 mpw the past 3 months with a high of 37… banking on lifetime miles pulling me through!

@Alan_Couzens Hi Alan. Great post 🙏🏻 Question on high volume - the running distance is ie. 160-180km per month, right? Sorry if it’s a silly question 😊

What does "Norwegian training" mean to me? **High Training Volume** "I believe there are certain limits: 120 which is a minimum for long/middle-distances for many, 160-180 km which is for most will work the best and 170-220 which is a level that some will work for, but not all." **Keep the Easy Training Easy** "In terms of lactate, we are below 1.0 mml/l, heart rate below 70 % of max for the easy runs" **Keeping the hard training kinda easy too, but doing good volumes of it** "I soon found out that lowering the lactate level from the standard level of 4.0 mmol/l down initially to below 3.0 – usually staying from 2.3 up to 3.0 on sessions gave not only far better results, you could also do huge amounts of “threshold training” – substantially more versus a level of close to 4.0, without wearing down." For perspective, many amateurs in the U.S. are doing their *easy training* at 2-3mmol/L, i.e. they aren't doing any true easy training at all! Then for their "threshold work" there is no intensity control & they're often at 6,7,8 mmol/L for their hard sessions! Is it any wonder they struggle to improve? They have no base! mariusbakken.com/the-norwegian-…

At this point it's pretty definitive that cis women can and regularly do beat trans women in basically every sport. It's not even a debate. Either you understand that being trans is not a competitive advantage or you're wrong.

WOMEN'S SPORTS IS NOT A TRANSFER PORTAL FOR MEDIOCRE MALE ATHLETES WHO COMPETE AS WOMEN. If you're a #GirlDad, there is no way you want your babygirl competing against men. It isn't fair, nor is it physically and mentally healthy. #SaveWomensSports

@ORION_coaching Before people go nuts, the first part was a joke I know he meant Stapley. But the other points are legitimate questions. My belief is a technical sport like swimming won’t gain as much of an advantage from doping. EPO won’t improve poor technique.

@ORION_coaching Who is “Max Stanley” and what stats, data or authority does he have to back up this opinion? If triathlon was composed of the 3 dirtiest sports, which it’s not, Why is it not even on this list? How are triathletes avoiding ADRV’s when athletics and cycling can’t?

Triathlete Max Stanley: “We are comprised of the three biggest doping sports in the world and you put them together and we’re clean? Give me a break.” Hits the nail on the head in this article. tri247.com/triathlon-news…

@parsamsons Lukas won the 2011 Triathlon World Championships Junior race 5 weeks before racing Nutty. I don’t think he ever recommitted himself to running after that win, he went pro before the conference meet that season.

@Semjeffe @SaraHall3 With dew points in the 60s. I'm guessing you don't live in a location with that kind of humidity, or you wouldn't have posted this comment.

In this history of marathoning has a marathon ever been held in the middle of the day in 90 degree humid weather? Is there any precedence for this even being safe?

@TheRealMerb @jgault13 I disagree, to increase quality he could increase quota for countries in certain events. For example give US 6 entries in men’s and women’s 100m. Give Kenya 6 entries in 1500-10k. This could be done on a country ranking system per event.

@jgault13 He is aware that when this happens the same quantity will qualify to the World Championships and they’ll be of lesser quality, right?

Love how the Peacock broadcast of the Tour goes commercial-free for basically the last hour of each stage but they can’t get through an 8-minute steeplechase without four clips of Tom Brady selling us rental cars
