@pitchforkedpuck The stat that makes me slam my head against the wall is out of the 40+ players he drafted only 5 have played in 100+ nhl games… Mercer Luke daws holtz and nemec… and that was with 7 first round picks. Obviously not every pick will be a slam dunk but still…

@JMC9787 He was fired from Toronto for being slow to react to issues with the team and not being good at hiring the right people underneath him. Yes Toronto was a playoff team but they were never a serious threat for a cup under shanny. But people do sometimes learn from their mistakes 🤷‍♂️

I wouldn’t hate it. He’s experienced. Didn’t win in Toronto obviously, but the team was consistently good. We need people with experience and know how to get shit done.

Finally some accountability out of the #NJDevils. Firing Fitzy was long overdue, he had completely lost the plot. Hopefully whoever replaces him will want his own coach and show Keefe the door too. This was the first domino that needed to fall to get the franchise back on track

@RunninWithNJD Getting fired lol, all joking aside he did make some good moves, trading for glass, and allen. Signing brown and resigning Allen, and jack. Selecting hameenaho, all of that were great things he did. But I struggle to think of much more than that…

@TalkinDevils82 He should have his own office and some sort of official title because he’s Marty, but he should have 0 say in anything hockey related simply because of his association to fitz, although if the rumors are true the devils are gonna land shanny which is basically fitz 2.0

Devils legend or not, Marty should be out the door right behind Fitzgerald Guy has been here as assistant GM since 2020 and not only has the team underperformed but the goalies have been atrocious Clean house entirely #njdevils

He helped turn the team around, it's just the players didn't show up in the playoffs. Also, 1st Season without Shanny, Toronto not in playoffs. Coincidence?

Expect to hear a lot of Brendan Shanahan to the Devils speculation, in a president role. Because I'm already hearing it from multiple sources and Fitz has been out for like three hours.

@NHL_Muse Classic 1-8 100% and it’s not even close. You want the leagues best teams in the playoffs and some teams won’t make it meanwhile teams that have worse records do… it makes 0 sense… better teams should be in the playoffs, it should be top 16 regardless of conference

I wish the NHL would go back to the 1–8 playoff format. If the playoffs were seeded that way based on today’s standings, the first round would look like this: Western Conference: Avalanche — Sharks Stars — Oilers Wild — Golden Knights Ducks — Mammoth Eastern Conference: Hurricanes — Bruins Sabres — Red Wings Lightning — Islanders Canadiens — Penguins Which playoff format do you prefer: the current divisional bracket or the classic 1–8 seeding? 👀
