The PFP Carousel I’ve got something on my mind that I really need to get off my chest and I’m going to say it in my own words, not the way X would prefer. Every time I hop into a space these days, there’s someone going on about loyalty. It’s all about community this, family that “we’re early” “we’re building” Honestly, most of the time, the person with the mic is just in it for the perks. More followers. More invites. More clout, as long as the project is hot. The moment the money stops rolling in, they switch their PFP. New project, new “family” same old spiel. Copy. Paste. Repeat. That’s not community, that’s just a costume. Honestly, I’m not even mad at the founders most of the time. What frustrates me is seeing holders stroll into Discord like the founder is some kind of wizard with a magic wand. “Do something” “Push the floor” “When’s the utility?” Come on man you bought a JPEG and a vibe, not a paycheck. You expect him to conjure your exit liquidity out of thin air while you contribute absolutely nothing to the thing you claim to love. Let’s be real 💭 NFTs are still one of the coolest parts of web3 if you find the right crowd. But those right crowds are becoming harder to find. Most Discords are just glorified group chats about floor prices with a logo slapped on top. Nobody’s really talking. Nobody’s actually building. They’re just refreshing OpenSea and calling that engagement. I’ve got to give props to the few communities that have made it through this phase. The ones where people are still around after the hype has faded. You know who you are and you’re quieter than the rest which is exactly why I trust you. For everyone else doing the monthly PFP shuffle, it’s amusing to watch but it’s getting stale. Pick a lane. Mean what you say. Or at least stop tossing around the word “community” like it’s just a marketing buzzword. Just being honest 🫰
