Jos may have hated Horner, but Mekies is not the leader that Max is looking for. I think Toto is the strongest principal and Merc is the strongest team. I'd bet heavily he is there next year if he remains in F1. Toto would probably let him drive in other racing leagues under the Merc flag if that is what it takes to get him. Plus, Merc will offer him the greatest financial contract.

I wonder if this is a dip in the waters towards potentiall an off-ramp from #F1 which keeps him within the Aston ecosystem and to a press environment which is less intense.

The cars are trash, and F1 knew it for two years before proceeding anyway. Their stated commitment to carbon climate technology is undermined by executives burning more fuel than the entire F1 season each week in private jets. The result will be dead drivers and a shrinking fan base.

I am grateful that the U.S. President’s envoys hear us and are ready to work together to find the right compromises, steps, and decisions.
