Fast design is everywhere now, and I get it. “Do it before your competition or you’ll lose a deal” It’s promoted everywhere now, and every beginner starts to think “I need to be fast, everything will come later” But what if after 6 weeks of “fast design” you realize you've been moving fast in the wrong direction? There's a version of productized design that's really just systematized speed. Same process, same templates, same outputs, regardless of what the client actually needs. That's not efficiency. That's risk transfer. You're moving the cost of bad decisions from your timeline to their product. Speed without diagnosis is not a service. The sooner you realize it as a designer - the better products you’ll deliver. The sooner you realize it as a client - the less money you’ll spend on “remakes”.

What the client thinks he’s buying: a new interface, better visuals, a product that looks more like a “real startup” What the client actually buys: • fewer bad decisions • a clear user journey they can hand to an engineer without a 45-minute explanation • someone who says no before they spend $30k on the wrong thing Most founder misalignment doesn't come from bad intentions. It comes from buying design when what you need is product thinking. The decisions behind deliverable is the value.

Building in public or building in silence? I’ve tried both. Pulled almost a year of consistency on X. Then went silent for a while. Here's what I actually learned: Building in public gives momentum. Building in silence gives depth. Public builds accountability, silence builds coherence. But here's what people actually miss: they commit to one as an identity instead of using both as tools. Build in silence when the work needs to be figured out. Build in public when it needs to be pressure-tested. Neither is superior. Most people just use one to avoid the discomfort of the other.

Or maybe it only looks like that? I've been on X for the last 3 years (actively). Partly, because it's my job. Partly - because I think it's far better than IG or TikTok to spend my time on. But here and now, I'm asking myself What is X anyway? I think X is a tool. A tool for procrastination, a tool for politics spitting at each other, a tool for 16 yo eCom owners flashing their stripe notifications. A tool that can do good.
