Britain has a healthier parliamentary democracy at this point and will never fall into a situation like India...at the mercy of the Americans and bought out institutions that were supposed to protect our country from becoming an electoral autocracy. A journalist like you would know better than this.

A question I wish to ask the TMC and Shiv Sena UBT rebels. You switched sides for reasons best known to you. Let us not debate those reasons today. But shouldn’t you also return the votes that never really belonged to you? Many of the TMC rebels were elected on the political credibility, leadership and associated with Mamata Banerjee. Many Shiv Sena UBT MPs were elected as part of an opposition alliance where Congress voters played a significant role in their victory. If you have genuinely moved on from the platform on which you sought votes, shouldn’t you resign and seek a fresh mandate from the people? After all, if the BJP is confident about these leaders and confident about its formidable election machinery, what is stopping them from contesting again from the same constituencies and winning afresh? Democracy gives you the right to change sides. But It also requires you to respect the mandate on which you were elected. The seat may legally belong to you. But the vote belongs to the people. Please respect democracy. Please respect my vote

But the bigger issue is this: as a Union Minister, he is casually glamorising a dangerous activity that requires rigorous mental and physical training.
