Question: why can't we force lawyers (including judges) to pass a basic tech class or else do something useful for society instead? Like if you can't connect to video conference are you *really* qualified to be a judge?

🚨UPDATE - Court Orders Police To Apprehend 102 Year Old Father and Deliver to Daughter 🚨Home Entryway Blocked by Trucks and Farm Equipment - presumably to prevent re-entry of police. 🚨102yr-old father: Statement to journalist 🚨Text of April 2, 2026 court order below. 🚨Important new information coming Tuesday. Since posting the original Good Friday video showing police attempting to remove the 102 year old father from his son's home - several neighbours, friends & family members (both sides) contacted me. I have several, but not all, of the recently filed legal documents & court orders. There are years of court filings and other legal documents that I have not seen. We must remember that my information is limited, that I don't have a in-depth knowledge of the case or the relevant law. Persons from both sides who have contacted me have their own agendas. I am an ex-cop journalist - not a lawyer or a medical professional. We must also remember that excerpts of videos often do NOT show an accurate record of the entire situation... notwithstanding how powerful some short videos are. Consider everything and judge for yourself - never mind my opinions or those of others. I welcome persons with additional information to contact me via X messages or email: donaldbestonline (AT) proton (DOT) me I will be posting new, highly concerning information on Tuesday - but for now, here is a bullet list of what I currently believe from the incomplete information in my possession. - This is a complex family situation and legal case that has been ongoing for years. - We must remember that the events of the past few weeks are preceded by years of events in and out of the courts. - The 102 year old father HAD significant assets worth several millions of dollars that are now either in control of, and/or in the name of, the daughter. Many people have expressed concern about how this happened and under certain circumstances that I will for now not post. - The 102 year old father had been placed in a nursing home by the daughter - without informing the son. - On or about March 14, 2026, the son took the father from the nursing home to stay with the son, to return about March 20, 2026. - This absence from the nursing home was properly done with forms filled out and the nursing home staff providing the father's prescription drugs to the son. I have copies of the paperwork. - The list of medications seems to not be noteworthy for someone who is 102 years old - with the exception of one drug that, upon research, gives me serious concern. More on this Tuesday. I am not a doctor. - The son was deeply concerned about the deterioration of his father's condition since he entered the nursing home, and that the father was not thriving in the nursing home. - The 102 year old father indicated to the son that he did not want to return to the nursing home, and decided to stay with the son... in his old home that the father had spent decades building and living in. - Upon the father spending a few weeks living with the son, the son and a friend of the father for 60 years noticed that the father's physical condition and spirit improved "exponentially." - When he first arrived from the nursing home, the father could not stand from a sitting position without assistance, but now he can. His strength and enjoyment of life has significantly improved in a short time. - The son and some other people wonder if the father was being needlessly sedated in the nursing home, and / or if the conditions of the home caused his physical and spiritual weakening. - The son made renovations to the home to facilitate the care of his father, including a special bathtub and assists. - The son hired a personal support worker to assist daily. - Due to recent revelations about so many MAID abuses in Canada, some neighbours, friends and family members are concerned that if the 102 year old father is sent back to the nursing home, he will again deteriorate and then possibly be channeled for MAID. - The son did not mention this MAID concern to me until I asked him about it on my own initiative - so nothing should be inferred without asking the son and the father about their positions on assisted suicide or how that did or did not impact anything. The @OPP_News officers who attended on Good Friday chose not to break down the door to apprehend the 102 year old father - even though the April 2, 2026 court order appears to give them that authority. I support the OPP officers in their judgment. Imagine the news stories if the old man was injured or died during the apprehension... or if the old man was eventually euthanized upon return to the nursing home. Oh my! Here is the partial wording of the April 2, 2026 Court Order with names and addresses redacted... "THIS COURT FURTHER ORDERS that the police force having jurisdiction in any area where it appears that (The 102 year old father) may be, shall locate, apprehend and deliver (HIM) to the Applicant (DAUGHTER). For the purpose of locating and apprehending (102 year old father) a member of a police force may enter the premises at (LOCATION) between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and or any place where he or she has reasonable and probable grounds for believing that (102 year old father) may be, with such assistance and such force as are reasonable in the circumstances. This shall be done by April 8, 2026." Photo: Driveway Blockade (credit - neighbour)

Take a 102-year-old man from his home in Canada and you risk never seeing him alive again. That’s the MAID reality families fear. @OPP_News show up in Tillsonburg with a court order. Son: “Not opening the door. Break it if you have a warrant. It’s under appeal.” The father is clear: he’ll die where he chooses. He sounds clear and rational to me. The dispute? Sister wants the farm. Father wants to stay. She alleges dementia, son says he is clear and rational. Police are caught in the middle. But enforcing a Thursday night order on Good Friday with no time for legal response is dirty pool. In the end the officers leave because they are not going to kick down the door and the son knows it. The son also says he doesn't trust the police or the courts. These days, I don't blame him at all.

I didn't think the racing this year was that much different from last year. Safer barriers have objectively changed the shape of the racing surface, yes. But this is a hell of a leap lol
whatsundersteer@whatsundersteer

Why did the racing at Rockingham suck this year compared to last year? Bc Nascar added a safer barrier on the front stretch and back stretch, narrowing the track by nearly two feet (20.5”) Nothing has ruined tracks more than the safer barrier has #NASCAR

I keep seeing these old tried and true racetracks deliver when it's not a nascar cup car... Last off season I wasn't calling for the cars to be "fixed" yet because I knew it wouldn't be that quick, but yet again I'm wondering why they don't copy these cars for the cup package.

@CEBKCEBKCEBK Under the appeals court version: you didn't get to make your argument at trial because that judge said no, and you don't get the argue it at appeal because they say you didn't argue it well enough to the judge that didn't want to hear the argument. Heads they win, tails you lose.

@CEBKCEBKCEBK Meaning the defense had waived it by not taking proper action at the trial court level, so they wouldn't take up the issue being appealed. This isn't about getting away with murder, or even getting a new trial, but the right to challenge something you have the legal right to.

Yesterday’s case at SCOTUS (Pitchford v Cain) was about a guy who confessed to, clearly committed, & was duly convicted of capital murder, who now claims his jury wasn’t black enough (it had one black juror, his counsel didn’t properly raise this issue at trial, the Mississippi Supreme Court & 5th Circuit have already heard this very arg & found it utterly lacking, etc, but by far the most common kind of case at SCOTUS is death row thugs airing frivolous error-filled last-minute pleas). Two days ago, SCOTUS heard two similarly silly cases: one discrimination lawsuit fraudster (sued, got owned, went to arbitration, lost, sued over his loss, lost again, sued that the court he sued over his loss in lacked jurisdiction, etc etc etc); & one case about how Ahmad Abouammo got a Twatter job in 2013 as a “Media Partnerships Manager” for “high-profile users” in the Middle East, & used his role to dox people to the Saudi Royal Family, & then after 5 years of this he got caught by the FBI & faked evidence in his defense, & now 8 years later is trying to change his venue for his still-upcoming trial. Last week SCOTUS heard: a case about whether “Election Day” means the day of an election, or whether you can keep finding mail-in ballots afterwards; a case about whether “arriving in the US” for the purposes of asylum law includes people who don’t arrive in the US but are asking to so they can claim asylum; a boring case about liability & bankruptcy in relation to truckers who get in accidents; & a potentially huge case which may be the start of rolling back the last 100 years of “interstate commerce” interpretations (the federal government’s constitutional claim behind pretty much every law—from “civil rights” to economic interventions to drug laws & even Epstein’s prosecution—is just that it indirectly affects “interstate commerce,” which Congress can constitutionally regulate… so reinterpreting that phrase as just including what actually pertains to interstate commerce [rather than all kinds of absurdly indirect add-ons] would be huge, though for now they’re kind of pretending it’s about statutory not constitutional uses of the phrase “interstate commerce”). & of course today SCOTUS heard the huge birthright case. It’s kind of like how emergency rooms are mostly full of people who really shouldn’t be there.
Ceb K.@CEBKCEBKCEBK

Just about 50% of SCOTUS cases over the past two months are like “yo so double jeopardy means double homicide’s legal right” & “my murder conviction’s BS bc the judge told my lawyer to not pass me notes on how to answer each question.” Not the best use of Trump’s 6-3 majority imo

@AlextheAdm1ral I don't hate the very idea of stage points, but I'd rather see bonuses for leading laps. Most, 2nd most, 3rd most, and at least 1. That way you always have someone try to lead the race for more points. Generally I think people are compromising and saying okay point, caution bad.

I don't mind stage points. However, I firmly believe they are, at this point, also vestigial. Where you finish is the most important part of the race, and just last week we've already seen the rare occasion of the race winner *not* getting the most points

I get that a lot of people don't mind, if not affirmatively like, stage points. However, their primary utility was to soften the blow a bad Playoff race could have in the brutally unfair Playoff format. Now that we have an OG Chase, awarding up to 20 midrace points is unnecessary

@MoisheP29020 @Viralvid_89 The cop lied and accused him of setting off the store anti theft detector, he walked back through it and proved it wasn't him. There's no reasonable basis to detain him from that moment on. Beyond anything reasonable he consented to and assisted with a search, cops broke the law

It gets worse. This weekend after seeing the video, a veteran criminal defense lawyer (with no cases in this guy’s civil court) wrote this judge an email telling the judge he needed to apologize. The judge responded by accusing the lawyer of making an ex parte communication and ordered him to appear next week under threat of contempt. I’m a member of the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association “Strike Force,” a group of several lawyers tasked with defending lawyers against judicial overreach at a moment’s notice. We’ll be there to make sure this judge does not try to jail a veteran lawyer just for exercising his First Amendment rights in criticizing an elected judge’s behavior.

@DaleJr @jeff_gluck @dennyhamlin IMO there are 3 main options: 1) Stage caution laps do not count 2) We stop throwing cautions for stage breaks, and award points under green 3) We remove stages entirely and go back to pre-2017 (my favorite)

We have to find a way to shorten them up, but we won't shorten them up as long as we're doing what we're doing in the sense of 'TV has to catch the pit stops live.' OK, well then you've got to shorten your commercials or something. ... (O'Reilly) especially, I'm telling you my experience as a watcher: It was a single-car wreck, there's not debris on the track, there's no clean-up to be had, and it's just yellow...yellow...yellow.
